I got the following from some forum. Can't remember which one. S
For those of you who have phone which seems to wobble a bit when you press on the right side, here is a trick to solve it (if you dont want to bother to have phone exchanged)
1. Get those stick on hard foam (i.e. those you stick to table legs so that it does not scratch your floor). The stick-on should be 3mm thick. If you can't find those, double sided foam tape can also work.
2. Cut a small piece (4mm width X 8mm length).
3. Slide your phone to the music player side.
4. On the right side (or whichever side that wobbles) of the slide track next to the buttons, stick the tape into the groove of the slide track. Make sure the foam allows the top screen to slide over.
lol, straight from the blue peter cook books :P
Could anyone who can do this post a vid or some pics of where the tape goes pls. does anyone know you can exchange the phone because of a wobbly slider?
Sorry. I cant post pic because I did not do it as my N95 dont wobble. Like I said, I got the tip from somewhere.
I think I understand the tip. If you slide to the music player key side, you see a "depression" (like a track) at both sides. The main idea is to put the foam in the depression so that foam provides some sort of support (i.e. fill up the gap) when the top part is slide over these tracks.
?!!?!?! If it is faulty - exchange it for a brand new handset....
and probably get another one just the same!!
Do the mod above, its easy, cover comes off no problem. Hardest part is finding a screwdriver/fitting for the screws - they are quite small
If you want an easier fix (instead opening up your casing) to wobble problem, try this. Make sure the foam is thick enough to push up against the top slide but not so thick that the top slide cannot slide over. Make sure you stick to correct side of the wobble (usually it is the right side when holding phone upright).
I can't post a picture. But you can see it at hxxp://img258.imageshack.us/img258/1153/n95slidefixsz2.jpg
Do not use rubbery type foam as this has too more surface resistant and the foam can be dislodged.
1. Solved wobble when the slide is closed
2. Solved wobble when slide is open to normal (keypad) side as foam is in the centre supporting slide.
3. Do not solve wobble when slide to player button side (but most phone dont have this problem)

heres one i made earlier  😊
I would advise against any padding fix. The slider mechanism comprise a low friction slider rail which very lightly clips over the screen base slider rails. This is all held in place by a stronger metal strip over the low friction slider and on top of the screen base rail. Some movement is essential for this to operate correctly. If it is made tight by padding it is very likely that exessive wear will occur due to rubbing of a misaligned slider rail and the softest part is the plastic screen base rail and you don't want that to wear out!

the screen base and front of the n95 are made of metal, if u unscrew the front and scratch the inside ull see its metal, not sure what sort of metal tho, so it wnt wear away.

I've tried your life approach strategy, but my wobbly slider still gets me down
