Good morning,
I picked up my N95 yesterday (got the new memory card on order, thanks again !)
Just have a few questions if I may :
How long should the GPS take to lock on, In my house by the window yesterday it couldnt find a signal at all. Outside this morning on the maps program it wouldnt connect at all, and on the Naviagation program it just stayed on connecting....
Also on maps when/if it connects should it zoom in automatically to your location ?
VoIP calls : I have setup my SIP settings but cannot find how to make internet calls - after reading a few forums it appears vodafone have removed this option from the phone !!! Is there any way to install other firmware ?
And lastly the screensaver video / animation that is already on the phone. Is there any way to replace this / choose another video you've shot ?
Thanks for any help !
Mark.

There is a lot of previous discussion about the GPS raking a long time to establish a lock. Put simply, the GPS unit is lost - it thinks it is in one place, is expecting to see certain satellites, can't figure out why it can't and so has to query each satellite's signal it can see to work out it's new location. That is why when you move a significant distance from where you last used it the start up time is again a slow process.
The receiver is quite weak and for best reception it is better to be outside with a clear view of the sky all around. Mine locked on within 5 minutes. Once locked on, the map will show your current position.
Re VoiP, I've read that Vodaphone are one of the providers that have knobbled their phones to prevent VoiP calls. I think only O2 and T-Mobile are enabled (and T-Mobile definitely works as I have Truphone working on mine)
Creating your own screensavers is a little more complex but a good understanding can be found on the Nokia forum - here
