I have been trying out the maps software and gps on my N95 today and I am impressed with the results so far. There is one thing that I found slightly frustration is the orientation of the map. During tracking of a route the map always points north, it would be more usable if it orientated itself to the direction of travel. Has anyone worked if it is possible to change the settings for this to occur? I have searched around, looked at this excellent forum but cant find a solution.
Direction of travel when using Maps
Click plan route, then when it lists the route, press select to select the first item in the list. The press menu, and "Start Navigation". Unfortunately, this is only is only available if you pay the navigation upgrade price. You can however run a simulation on the route with the free version.
Thanks Nigma,
I was hoping this feature was going to be available on the tracking mode. I am not too worried about the voice navigation. The tracking feature does what I want apart from always pointing north rather than the direction of travel.
On the subject of the voice navigation, do you have to be connected to the internet? This was what I was told in the shop. But if you have already downloaded the maps is this really necessary?

you download the voice but you dont have to be connected to use them
