Hi there,
I have TomTom 5 which I previously installed on my N70, worked fine. Now I have the N95 and tried copying all the files across to the memory card but Tom Tom would not show up in the menu.
So I went out and got TomTom Navigator 6, I copy all the files onto the memory card and in the instructions it says to click on the tomtom_navigator6.cab file, well when I do this it tells me-unable to open, file type not supported, which makes me think this version I have maybe for palmtops only.
So is there anyway I can get either of these two versions of TomTom to work on my N95. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Nate
Yes you have got the wrong version. You have the windows mobile version and you need the symbian version. they are very different operating systems.
The TomTom 5 version will not function on N95, it's not for Series 60 3rd edt. You'll need to get hold of TomTom 6 version for symbian.
Either way, you won't be able to get it to connect to the internal GPS in N95. Currently TT6 does not support this, has to be a bluetooth GPS.

Hi Superswede,
I have the TomTom 6 version just installed on my N95, do you know if nokia or tomtom will have a fix for the internal gps to work with the software? its frustrating to know the phone has a intergrated GPS and dont work with the TT6 software. 😞
Cheers... Quilts
ive found alot of GPS apps only support bluetooth GPS, becuase when they were designed there wernt any integrated GPS phones really.
hopefully their will be a fix soon.

It's not a Nokia problem/issue really, it's TomTom software related so we'll have to hope for a fix from TomTom.
Usually when contacting TomTom with theese kind of requests/questions they tend to respond with something like "maybe, maybe not..".
My guess is that there will be a fix or a new version providing an option to connect to an internal GPS. Mainly for two reasons:
1. The TomTom 6 version for Windows Mobile already has this option (TomTom is bundled with HTC P3300 which has an internal/builtin GPS).
2. More and more mobile devices will in the near future hold an internal GPS. TomTom will loose some of it's market share if they cannot provide software to be used with theese devices (why would you bother to buy software that requires a bluetooth GPS when you already have a built in one..?).
It's coming, TomTom are in the 'testing' process right now. Patience people 😊
Thanks Superswede, i make you right, they will lose some of their market eventually.
Lets just hope they sort the problem sooner rather than later ay?
Thx to you too Autopilot.
Q
I've been checking Nokia blogs every day... waiting :P

See this thread http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/59539/
Also, i have had a response from TomTom themselves now too.

Seems Tomtom are having a hard time testing this patch - if it is true that they answered as above more than one month ago.
I have also asked the same Q, but they haven't answered me yet.....

Did you seriously think Tomtom are going to ignore the very popular N95... 😎

piece of software on my Phone? pls help some good samaritan out there!!
Hello folks,
Could someone please help me install Tomtom6 on my new Nokia N95.
I had it running perfectly on my Nokia N80.
I copied all the files from the Tomtom6 SD Card onto a Brand New 2GB Micro SD Card, put it into N95 and switched the N95 there is no icon to install.
(when I installed on my N80 i just clicked the little pair of red hands icon and it installed perfectly)
I am stuck and aren't sure how to proceed.
(I have the latest firmware Version 12.0.0.013 on my Generic N95)
Can anyone help me solve this because I just can't install it ?
Cheers, felixcatster1

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but, I seem to remember that the installation files need to be copied to the mem card after a format and the installation started from there.
If you have just copied over old files the correct registration will not be set in the phones registry. If you have the original CD then you should be able to proceed and get it running.
Remember the N95 is not supported for use with the internal GPS receiver so hope you have a Bluetooth unit.
Hello Pa49,
Thank You very much for Your reply.
I'm still having problems installing Tomtom6 on my N95
Tomtom6 Came on a SD Card - it's genuine
I formatted the 2gb Micro SD Card, then removed it and copied everything that came on the Tomtom6 SD Card onto the newly formatted 2GB Micro Card - as You suggested.
I inserted the card back into the N95 and there is still NO Pair of Red hands Icon in any of my N95 Menus!!
(When I installed it on the a couple of months back on my N80, the Red Hands Tomtom Icon was in the My Own sub-menu - I clicked it and it installed easily in seconds)
All suggestions or instructions are VERY welcome!
I have no idea on what to do to get the TT6 Red Hands Installer Icon appears in my menu so I can install it😡
Is anyone having or have had this problem with theirs?

I got TomTom installed and running (without GPS receiver support) some months back but can't remember how. Will have to do some digging as I seem to remember a .txt with the instructions.

Hello Pa49,
Thank You for Your Reply
That sounds promising, if You manage to find it that would be great.
Any suggestions are also very welcome?
I have done just about everything and still no Tomtom Red Hands icon in
the Main Menu or any Sub-menus - it won't install until the icon appears so I can click on it.

@felixcatser1:
Contact TomTom-support for this; they can help you for sure (if you have legit software!) . . .
Is This All You Ever??? Say Shut Up You Clown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the porter wrote:Is This All You Ever??? Say Shut Up You Clown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
exactly what I was thinking !!
Well its a valid point, as people on here have tried and its still not working, support is the best thing you can do.
So have you asked Tomtom support then?
Got to Say I agree with the Porter and Nudda about the totally unhelpful
- Have You Tried Tomtom Customer Support?- Quote from henklbr and his Parrot Bartmanekul and the answer is No and not going to either, is that OK for You?
Plus henklbr who are You to question if my software is legit? - is there anything else You want to stick Your nose into????
I just got fed up with the Tomtom 6 Software, bought CoPilot 6 instead haven't had chance to try it yet though.
TT6 - too much like hard work !!!!!!
Because if it isnt legit, youve got FA reason to come on here and complain about it not working.
There is a downside to hacked software you know.
Sorry to be blunt, but thats the truth.
Besides, how can you say TT6 is too much like hard work if you havent even contacted support about it?
Its funny, people using cracked software are always 'ha you paid for it I got it for free', but then expect help.
If I could help, I would have, but I cant. So contacting tt support was suggested, which tbh is the next thing to do if its not working.
Why would you buy TT6 and then give up without even asking TT for support? 🙄
Hopefully you have more luck with your bought version of copilot.
Just For the record and especially for Mr. Nosey's Record
The Boxed Version of Tomtom Navigator 6 came with the genuine Tomtom MiniSD Card with the two little handies logo., Software (Tomtom Plus), manual etc. I think You get the drift - Nice blue box too!!!!
Just sold on Ebay for 49.75 - now that is an EXPENSIVE Fake!!
What Your take then Sherlock Holmes, sorry, bartmenekul, You must have somemore ASSunmptions?
It's pratts like You that get in the way of genuine posters looking for
a solution to a genuine problem.
They don't want the Spanish Inquisition from a pipsqueak like You!!😡 😡
They want positive comments from genuine helpful posters - there's just an odd few that this Forum would be better off without.
Thank You to all the genuine posters that helped.😉
Yeah, because we have proof of that dont we, must be true as you described the box! Im sure you could dig up an ebay auction too if need be 🙄
Besides of which, I never said you were using a hacked version, I just find it really odd you sold it (at a loss, if true) without even contacting tomtom support. You had a go at someone sugesting that you contact tomtom. Not exactly an out of the world suggestion is it?
And if you had bothered to read the thread, no-one else had anymore suggestions, the last thing to do (or arguably the first) is contact tomtom support. I dont know why you dont, its a no brainer to me.
People who pay for software dont like all the hackers getting uppity.
If you bought a legit version, great. But dont fly off the handle when someone just says 'if you have legit software'. I didnt understand your reaction. What cause have you to get arsey unless you did have a hacked version?
Spanish inquisition..yes...ok...., well I hope you noticed I didnt ask any questions? Nor do i care if you have a hacked version or not. Id prefer you didnt, but either way no skin off my nose.
And if it doesnt work, and its a legit version, why didnt you just send it back? You dont have to tell them you were using it on an N95.
