Ewan's a messaging power user and he's been smitten by a new utility, ThreadSMS for S60 3rd Edition, promising Treo-like threaded 'conversations' held by SMS. Here's the review.

Incidentally, the Nokia 5300 (not a Symbian, I know) has an almost identical text message smiley substitution system built-in, it's good fun.

I think you need to email a request for a trial version, supplying your IMEI number & phone model. Response was very quick.

My trial copy looked interesting but its a shame it limits you to viewing only 5 messages. At one stage, it loaded up 5 individual messages from 5 different people. How does that provide you with a useful way of assessing a threaded message application?? Just make a time limited trial version.

Despite this, I found it's biggest problem was that it's just kinda ugly. The built in sms app uses nice fonts & makes use of the current theme. ThreadSMS uses a plain white screen with lots of time stamps & no option (that I could find) to view the full messages by default.

Nokia really needs a threaded sms app but I'm not sure this is it yet.
