Hi! I'm a rather new happy owner of N80. But after using it for some 2 weeks, have got some questions. Any help is greatly greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Q1. My music player plays rather soft using the included headset, despite both the volume of the music player and the phone itself set to the maximum. And it's also regardless of the profile used. It's certainly not loud enough when I'm on the road with heavy traffic around me. Any ways to increase the volume on the headset?
Q2. The included headset has a switch to increase and decrease the volume. Is the little bump between the up and down pressable? I realised it doesn't work. Are there any other buttons on the headset other than the up and down, in order to answer phone calls or activate voice dial via the headset remote control?
Q3. I tried to use the music player in the background. It works. But when I open QuickIM, the music player closes automatically. Is there a way to use QuickIM while listening to music player?
I really really appreciate anybody's help. Thanks a whole lot...!
Welcome to AAS. Let me see if I can help you with some of your questions.
The first thing I would recommend is that you upgrade your firmware via the Software Update Service. You need a Windows computer and a broadband internet connection.
1. The thing I can suggest here is get a better headphones for your device. I never use the in-the-box headphones.
2. Not sure on this, as I only use bluetooth headsets, sorry.
3. This is a feature of Symbian, where it will close programs to reclaim memory for other running processes. Try to minimize the number of programs you have running. To see what is running on your device, hold down the menu key. You will see a listing on the top left of your device. Find a program that you are not using (use the d-pad to navigate) and press the C key to exit the program from memory.
4. Barcode scanner is mainly for datamatrix barcodes. These are used on some sites (and magazines) as a means to easily identify information. Frankly, the barcode scanner was the first application I decided to remove 😊
Thanks for your reply and your welcome, fyrestrtr!
Actually, I find that my N80 has enough memory to run both QuickIM and music player simultaneously. Just that the OS itself doesn't allow it. So i'm looking for ways to do that and then see if it works smoothly.
And regarding your bluetooth headset, is it only for calls (one-eared) or listening to music stereo (2-eared)? If i'm not wrong, N80 doesn't support the A2DP profile, and therefore I can't listen to stereo music with a set of stereo bluetooth headsets right?
Thanks again!
Ok so i can help you with the headphones lolzzz when i got my N80 my mom got the N73 music edition..so i took her head phones and controler thing THEY ROCK!!!!!!!!!!...the n80 headset is total crap.the n73 ones have excelent audio quality...so u can go on ebay and get the ones that come with the music editions....be carefull their's alot of fakes out their.
haha thanks armada741. I could use my other 3.5mm headphones but actually i pretty like the design of the n80 headset that lets me wear it around my neck. that's why i'm sticking to it at the moment.. Ok i think there's really nothing to do about the soft volume. but what about answering calls and making voice dials? no way too?
the headphones for the N80 only have the up/down volume rocker and the button on the front of it to answer/end calls.
Can you connect the N80 thru an auxillary port in a car?
yeah, if you cut the wire, and remake with a 3.5mm male jack you could... but youd need another set of headphones if you wanted to keep using them as 'headphones' 😉
i have my N80 connected to the AUX port of my nissan armada...i use the HS-20 and i have a cable with the headhone pin on both sides and i use my phone on my drive all the time.
