New functions for the 7650

Does anyone know if any of the following are available on the 7650? If they are, through what software?

Software allowing the fone to be used as a TV remote control via it's infra red link.

Software allowing bluetooth content to be streamed via the phone to the pc so you can use the phone as a wireless camera.

Software allowing videos to be streamed from your pc via bluetooth to the phone so you can watch movies that are on your harddisk.

If they don't exist, someone should get a move on and write them - they'd be great and would sell well. :robot:

True

Well, don't know about the first two, but for the third software you're asking, I can imagine that you can use Real Player One on 7650 and a streaming media server (e.g. Real video srv) on PC. Communication between them should be via Bluetooth.
(Really, anyone tried this? I have Real Media server, I'll test it and I'll let you know 8) )

i tried setting up a web server with som real video files on it.....it didnt work with streaming to real one though

where does one get a real media server?

A long time ago, Real Media offered a limited edition of each new RealMedia Server they released for private/testing purposes. That's how I got RealMedia Srv 5 and later I got G2 Srv. I don't know if they have the same policy any more. My tests will be done with G2 srv. I hope it will work... :-?

Well you could do this through my Wireless IRC trick. You can take all the pictures to your hearts content and send them directly back to your computer 😃

thats a nice trick - what I had in mind though was not just sending files to your computer's hd, but streaming live video to your computer in realtime. Any thoughts?

I somehow don't think that the processor in the 7650 is capable of handling such streaming and encoding simultaneously. So it's not just a software dependency, but also hardware as well.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just logical.

I think it can handle it,most of the streaming would be handled by bluetooth or grps, right? I dont see a problem here.
Any news if streaming works?

I think the compression and most of the tasks could possibly be shifted to the receiving device, ie the computer - the main factor being the available bluetooth bandwidth. If the quality of video could be reduced sufficiently to allow uncompressed streaming, the phone might not need to be laboured with encoding.

Just a thought :agrue:

Then again this is all crazy talk. I haven't got any factual basis I'll admit, just hypothetically speaking. :-?

Please register so we can know who we are talking to.
And no,this is not crazy talk, its possible to stream media to the 7650 using RealOne.This is exactly the same.Just switch the streaming server with your box,and that is it.I'm not sure how would it work with bluetooth, but it should be no problem with GPRS.
Idea: what about using bluetooth internet sharing (your internet connection supplied by your pc) to stream media to RealOne on the 7650,has anyone tried this? If this works you could setup a streaming server on your box, connect it to internet. Then you can stream to the 7650 via the bluetooth internet sharing and not using expensive GPRS.
