hi mates there's a new sdoubler, check it out at www.psiloc.com
thnks 😊
sDOUBLER 1.15!!!!
Web site still reports 1.10 as the latest version, with an alternative to try the beta.
I wouldn't recommend trying the new beta. I tried it and it crashed on it's first decompression. And they spoke about new "cosmetic" changes. It looks the bloody same as the 1.10 did.
And I wish these companies would stop giving us false advertising. First cam out Smart Compress. Then Space Doubler promising better compression. Then Stacker came out and promised better compression.... now Space Doubler claiming better compression again. YET THEY ALL COMPRESS DOWN TO OTHE SAME SIZE!!!! Maybe that's as far as you can go when compressing data like eg. like Zipman.
I wouldn't try compressing an app that's already compressed. eg. Combining Stacker with Space Doubler. Instead of acheiving the desired result of more space, it'll take up more space and crash your phone to shit (like screw it up totally). I know this because....... I goofed it once  getting greedy for more space 😃
Dont warry about using it, it works fine on my phone 😃
ops warry = worry
I unpacked all apps (uninstalled a couple to make room) then installed 1.15b on top of 1.10f then rebooted the phone (after that little zip icon stopped "running" over)
then I launched 1.15b and changed option to "best speed" instead of "best multitasking", selected "pack all apps", waited a little and when it finished I quit spacedoubler and tried launching seleq... instead, im+ popped up! then I closed it, and I noticed the icon for seleq was gone, instead I had the default "puzzle piece" icon... tried to launch again... SYSTEM ERROR and nothing else happened
now I unpacked all again and everything works fine, I will try again compacting when they'll release a newer beta or "final" 😊
Hello,
To MR-6T9R:
Could you send beta bug report directly to us ?
Regarding compression ratio: Space Doubler from beginning uses ZIP format to store compressed applications, so significant changes in ratio is not possible. Anyway new version uses some tricks to produce smaller launcher files, so overall compression ratio is better.
Regarding cosmetic changes: let me know if you have any suggestions how to improve Space Doubler "look & feel".
Remember that Space Doubler was released as beta version, so some bugs may remain...
Final version of new Space Doubler is scheduled to end of this week (in meantime we are planning to release 2 more betas).
Best regards,
Robert

Uhm. The beta is totally fudged. Nothing works properly. I compressed ZipMan, GoBoy, FExplorer and all Java apps... ZipMan launches FExplorer, then disappears... FExplorer launches "messages" then ZipMan misteriously appears again... then SCompress gets uninstalled.
Ooops sorry, I ment SDoubler :P
Hello,
Space Doubler version 1.16B is now available to download (this version contain bug fixes).
All user's of Space Doubler 1.15B please upgrade to never version.

Hey there Robert from PsiNT,
I'll be more than happy to send beta bugs directly to you as of now 😃
I just hope you don't bite my head off for giving feedback like a very "grumpy" convict (either beta tester or developer from "Miniboard"😉 did. Developers can learn a lot from customer feedback 8)
As for the compression issue, fair enough on the explanation you gave. I just thought when you say compression was improved, it was a considerable amount. I guess every bits and bytes matter these days 😃
Now for the cosmetic side of it, I must admit I like the "pie" style of memory info. But maybe you should spice up the icons you use like Stacker (Smart Compress) has done. The little folder icons on the compressed icons look a little "tacky". This may not be an issue to others, but for me a "professional" phone, the theme needs to be "professional". An example are the icons that Handy products use. 😃 Then again, I guess it comes down to application size. What more can you ask for an application only 69Kb. Just a thought.
Keep up the good work and I hope to see more applications from you guys in the future eg. maybe a netmonitor clone LOL :P
Kinds regards - Brendon

Hi Robert,
Even with version 1.16B I still encounter the problem described by other users here (sDoubler launching wrong application and corrupting others). Furthermore icons are wrong (only after phone reboot you can see the little zip icon for packed apps and sometimes they disappear completely).
I downgraded to the current official version, unpacked all, re-packed and all is fine again.

MR-6T9R I can assure you from my personal experience that feedback is greatly appreciated by Psiloc and Robert in particular. Their customer service is exelent and I must say that they some times are happy to hear from users even though that is mostly bugs etc.

Oooooo..... a competition. 😮 hehehe
And what if I'm already a registered Space Doubler user? Can I have a P800 as an alternative? :P
Have you taken my "cosmetic" ideas into consideration? Just wondering 😃

Again great support, PsiNT! Thank you Robert.
Unfortunately (Fortunately? 😃 ) I already purchased Space Doubler! It is still THE killer application for the 7650.
Anyway, as requested, I will send a detailed bug report directly to you, Robert. But let me first go home and make a backup, please.... 😉
And this, folks, is why I am a registered user of SDoubler and will remain one for a looong time.
I appreciate Psiloc constantly trying to improve the app, and also allowing users to upgrade free. I realise that new betas might be buggy, and that's why I wait a while before upgrading, but I love the fact that they browse this board and listen to complaints and answer promptly.
THIS is what customer service is supposed to be about.
Thank you Psiloc.
I still find it a little annoying that I wrote to Psiloc on 31/12/02 with a problem I was having with V1.10F, I have since received an email telling me thay had a problem with the mail system and I will get a reply soon, I wont go into that problem here, Robert will know all about it when he reads my email. I have persisted over the last few days with all the betas, and now have 1.17 on and it still does the same thing, there are no zipped icons until a restart, and it launches whichever program it feels, not the one you want to use. I have since gone and bought stacker (sorry Robert) and have had no problems. I will however remail loyal to Psiloc, and continue to try Sdoubler until they get it right. I have no reason to fill in bug reports as I am already a paying customer and should be looked after anyway.
looking forward to the next Beta....
Hello,
To All:
Thank you for yours help! We were discovered bug in Space Doubler and now version 1.18B is available to download.
It should work as expected, but yours feedback is highly appreciated 😉
To MR-6T9R:
Yes, this icon should be redesigned... and it will be in final version of new Space Doubler.
To Strats:
Sorry, but our email system is still malfunctioning (some emails received before Saturday are still unanswered). I hope that all these emails will be processed tomorrow.
If you need faster response please resend your email to me (my account works fine).

Robert

Can't wait to see how the new look is 😃
This should include the application icon, the little "zip" icon and also the decompressing/compressing icon. The existing one of a small zip folder running across the screen looks quite 286'ish LOL 😃 The memory info "pie" style is fine.
Once all these are implemented and the bugs stomped out... I think Stacker may be in serious trouble 😃 hehehe. I'll definitely revert back to Space Doubler then. 😃
simply put, space doubler is the best app out there for there for the 7650. im still using 1.10 and am very happy with it. i might not even bother upgrading! but yes, a change of icon would be cool! 😃
Firstly, I gotta agree with seanmiguel, Sdoubler is the best app there is for the 7650, but......
I am back with the same problem, the one I wrote to Psiloc about in the first place, my compressed apps, after performing a backup, become unstable and crash, this time all of them. "error in compressed file, please reinstall" or something to that effect, but when uncompressed, they all work fine, but will not do this automated, has to be done from within Sdoubler.
Oh by the way, I'm using 1.18b which I just downloaded, any clues Robert?
I hope you guy's get this right soon as it looks great.
Cheers

how about stacker?? is it not that nice??
It's the killer app.
Check out Handango's site, 2nd Best Selling is now Space Doubler, with 425 downloads, 2 weeks ago, it was around 200+ only. Go s2!!! 8)
I would suggest an icon indicating a letter s raised to the 2nd power. 😃 Better yet, use the Symbian logo raised to the 2nd power. (More symbian applications to put in your little baby!!! :P )
here's a Q. if i want to try out Stacker, what do i have to do before installing it? should i unpack all my packed apps first with sDoubler and then uninstall sDoubler or can i just install Stacker and then uninstall sDoubler? :-?

cous you should unpack first all your packed apps,or do this one dont unpack the apps, then install stacker then unpack one by one then, packed it with stacker.now im using stacker full cous its better than sdoubler!!! 😉

That's not necessary. You can have both programs installed and moreover can have some apps compressed with one compressor and some apps with another one.
BUT PLEASE NOTE: Don't compress Stacker's compressed application with Space Doubler and vice versa. (or rather you can compress it, but please DON'T RUN IT. Results can be unpredictable. Avoid using both compressors with the same application.
