If the VOIP client is missing on operator branded phone can you not just download another one? Is it not just an application?

Interesting proposition. I believe the answer is NO, but you could install iskoot (N80 version) and see if it works on an Orange branded N95. Let us know! 😊

iSkoot works fine, however it is not true voip, it works by dialling a number which you are charged for, then you are connected to the number you are calling, basically you can get charged twice for instance if you ring a landline.

Wait for Fring to be released on the N95, this allows you to make Skype/SIP/MSN and more calls and will work even on Vodafone and Orange branded phones as it does not use the built in SIP/Internet Tel function.

Thanks for correcting me, Ratkat. :icon14:

Keep the forum users informed when Fring is released.

i've read somewhere about flashing to a non operator crippled firmware? not sure on this, installing a 3rd party SIP capable client would get around this.

oh, and tried using an older version of fring - doesn't work sadly. must actually check the version instead of just blindly installing. damn you, well written software :P
