Problem with Synchronize Function of P800 PC Suite

15 replies · 4,288 views · Started 06 January 2003

hi

i installed the SyncStation USB cradle and have successfully installed the PC Suite for P800.

I was able to do a successful backup when I first connected my P800 using the BACKUP/RESTORE function.

However, when I try using the SYNCHRONIZE function, I just get a "synchronize hast not started" message. Nothing happens - it does not start. Then sometimes the program just hangs/crashes.

I need to transfer the contacts, tasks, notes, etc. form my Outlook XP to my P800.

I was using a 7650 before and I need to transfer the Outlook XP stuff to my P800.

I am using Windows XP by the way.

Thanks.

Hi Rtsport,

I'm "glad" to see that you have the same problem with your syncronization. I'm facing exactly the same here. I'm using Windows Me. I can transfer files etc from and to the pc but as you pointed out, I'm not able to syncronize via my USB cable.

Does anybody have a solution to our problem ?

Much appreciated

Hi!

I istalled PC suit and no problems...using USB

Syncing less than 1 minut and backup and restore about 2-3min including switch of and on the phone

I did read some place that the sync-time eats memory (in your PC) I got 512 and that makes the big differens in sync-time.

Got XP (newly reinstalled XP) and the only stupid about all is the loooong time it takes for transfering mp3....sevral hours!!!!!

So now I do it with IR instead. 😊

I did see at Esato that they had similar problems...

Take a look at http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=16651&forum=17

He used a old serial cable instead.

I do love this little baby!!!! 😃 😃 😃

Cant really get internet working properly yet, but think a solve that soon :-?

I am using a desktop with Windows XP Pro and Outlook XP. I get the Synch has not started message, After a while, program crashes - "program not responding" message.

However, I do have a Fujitsu P1110 notebook with Windows XP Home ed and Outlook XP installed and it works fine! I can do a backup/restore and synchronize my data.

I am also really confused why it won't work on my desktop computer.

Please help.

I am having problem to sync too and now my phone book is still empty. I called SE Authorized Service Centre and they claimed that actually the PC Suite is not compatible with XP. WTF!!!

It's gonna be a long weekend ...

I am running on Windows XP but using Outlook 2000. Initially I was unable to sync properly until I remembered that the default mailer was set up as Outlook Express. Once I changed the default mailer back to Outlook synced with p800 without a problem. I think I am going to go with bluetooth syncing in the future however....that cradle doesn't give a seemless connection with the p800 every time.

mine as well 😞
i 've had deinstall the pc suite and installed it again but with no results, synchronization stopped by it self last week,i didn't touch a thing!!!!!!!
I 'll try to search the registry....
any other ideas?

Is there any 3rd party sync software that we could use for the mean time? I need my phone book back!

As far as a 3rd party sync, just use your favorite contact manager to export your contacts as VCF, and transfer that to your phone. This is how I work around the lack of software in Mac OS X.

I open the "Bluetooth File Exchange" application that comes with Mac OS X, then I open my Address Book application. I select the contacts I want to send to my phone, and drag & drop that list onto the Bluetooth File Exchange dock icon. It sends to phone via bluetooth, and phone asks if it should open the .vcf file it recieved. Voila!

Thanks for the tip, will try in a while but my MSI Widcomm 1.2.2.14 doesn't have file exchange feature for my P800. I might upgrade it to 1.2.2.15 then try again.

By the way, as for the PC Suite for P800 sync. I have test on the following platforms and failed.

1) XP Pro SP1 + Office XP Pro
2) Win2K Pro + Office 2000 SBE
3) WinMe + Office 2000 SBE

All FAILED !!!! WHAT A FISHY DAY !!!!

Hi everyone,

I too face an almost identical problem. I installed PC Suite 1.1.1 yesterday on a Win2K machine and upon plugging in the USB Sync Station, the OS just refused to recognise the device and kept asking for the driver, which for the life of me, I cannot find. Can anyone help me out with this problem?

Below are my system parameters:

(1) AMD Athlon processor 1.4 Ghz
(2) 512 Mb RAM
(3) 20+ Gb free hard disk space
(4) two physical hard drives. The small one is drive D. The larger one is partitioned into two smaller logical drives (drive C which contains Windows 98SE, and drive F which contains the Win2k system). My CD drive is drive E (don't ask me why Win2K decided on these drive assignments).
(5) Microsoft Outlook 2000 Service Release 1

Does the sync software require the software to be installed in C drive for it to work?

At first I thought I installed it in the wrong order because I installed PC Suite first before I installed MS Outlook. So I uninstalled it, then installed MS Outlook 2000 SR1, and reinstalled PC Suite. The same problem persisted - Win2K just refused to recognise the sync station.

Please help! I need to transfer my contacts list as I need to exchange my P800 for a new unit (some dust settled under the screen which they could not remove).

Thanks for any help/pointers anyone can give. I can be reached at [email protected]

I had problems synchronising as well. However I closed Outlook there was still an Outlook-process running. After killing that process I could synchronise without any problems.

Still everytime I synchronise Outlook gives me a warning that "something" is trying to use outlook-files. After permitting, synchronising works fine. Anyone has any idea how to get rid of this warning?

Well, I solved my own problem.

What I did was that when Win2K requested for the driver files, I took out the original CD that shipped with the P800 in the box which contained version 1.0.0. I pointed Win2K to the CD to search for the driver, which it promptly found and installed. Lo and behold, my Sync Station now works!

Synchronisation was a breeze. That was because I started with a clean version of Outlook on my system. Now what I need to do is to transfer a copy of my office Outlook system into my home PC. Does anyone know how to do this properly?

Cheers.
