Getting photos off the P800 via Bluetooth

How do I get the P800 to push out a file (particularly an image) via Bluetooth? Within the File Manager application, there is a beam option. This seems to use IrDA however, and I can't find a way to change this default. Is there another way from within the P800 that I am missing?

For transferring from my PowerBook to the P800, I've been using the Bluetooth File Exchange application in Mac OS X. This works fantastic, but it can't ask the P800 to send anything.

For now what I've been doing is just popping the MS stick into my card reader, but this does me no good for transferring images at work (I don't want to lug around anything else). I suppose if the P800 software that I installed in VirtualPC will pull via Bluetooth (I've only done USB), that would work.. but the whole point of Bluetooth is convienence and I'm just not into doing that.

If GPRS wasn't so pricey, I could always just send an e-mail attachment to myself with the images. Cingular, however, costs $7 for the first MB of traffic.

Hopefully I didn't just miss it in the documentation.

Hi there!
I really adore macs, they just really never crash, especially under X.2
Well, anyway, I have a bluetooth adapter, which works, and my p800 is on its way. Tell me: how do you set up Virtual PC (what version) so that you can send files via bluetooth or cable or whatever. I don't really know my way around pc's, so I'm not sure how to do this. Please help! 😊

As far as VirtualPC, I've only used the SyncStation. It's fairly easy, I've got VirtualPC 6.0 (5.X should work just as well) running under 10.2.3. It's got WindowsXP installed into it, which I did myself. All you do is pop the P800 CD into your Mac when WindowsXP is running, and the installer will come up..

When you've plugged your SyncStation in, you go into your VirtualPC settings for your Windows XP image, and tell it to reserve the "Unknown" USB device for itself. This transfers control of the device from Mac OS X to WinXP. It then works, sometimes. I've had mixed luck.

There really is no reason to use the software, other than generating a backup as far as you can tell. It's more convienent to move files around in OSX using Bluetooth or the MemoryStick. I just would like to find out how to push a file from the phone to the bluetooth file exchange so I don't have to move the files to the memorystick (who's reader I don't carry around)

Well, using the standard Picture viewer, tap the picture, tap the "Picture"-menu, and choose "Send As". That'll give you a menu with choices on how to send it. You'll choose between Email, Bluetooth, Infrared or MMS.

Not sure how I missed it, but the "Send As"->"Bluetooth" works great! I'd love to be able to send multiple simultaneously, but this works for now. Thank you!
