Bluetooth Issues

I've had a Nokia N95 for two days now.

It's on the Etisalat Network (I live in Dubai)

When I first got the phone I transfered everything via bluetooth using the 'transfer' function from my old N73. That worked fine.

However I have not been able to get the Bluetooth to connect to my BMW X5.

I go through the correct proceedure but it is as if my phone is not picking up the car or being visible to the car (I have made all the right settings to do this)

I try to 'add a new paired device' but the phone doesnt even scan for devices.

Worse still, When I have tried to send photos to my Powerbook laptop via bluetooth I get an instant message saying 'sending failed' again without any search for devices.

I have managed to locate the phone from my Powerbook and connected them, it just appears the bluetooth isnt working on my phone. Is it broke or am I missing something??

Also does anyone else have problems connecting with the GPS satellite? I've managed one succesful link up in two days. There are lots of towerblocks where I live (!) and my car has tinted windows. Would this afect the signal strength??

Welcome your help....

If the bluetooth is definately switched on and discoverable but is still not scanning I would think there is something wrong on the phone.

As for the GPS, it can take a while the first few times but it does get faster, mine picks up from cold in under a minute now but took over 5 the first time. It also needs to be static when first getting a fix and seems to take far longer if you are moving! Once you get a fix, its fine with any amount of movement, which seems odd.

The tinted windows won't matter unless they are athermic (heated) as the technology used for this can scramble the signal. Towerblocks can affect it though, at home (Rural Bedford) I get a much quicker lock than at work (Central London)

Latest update:

The phone has now been back to the shop two times in under a week.

Each time they perform a Master Reset (*#7370#)wiping the phone and the Bluetooth works again and I'm able to scan for devices and send pics etc.

But then, when I re-customise the phone (change themes, change active desktop settings etc) the Bluetooth again stops working.

Through a process of elimination (too much time on my hands) I've worked out that changing the clock settings seems to be the cause, when I change from analogue to digitial it seems to kill off the Bluetooth.

Obviously this is now a software problem and the shop have now agreed to take away my brand new phone and reformat it.
