hi ppl, iv just been looking around the net and found a guy who changed his n95 facia, and they seem to be made of metal, check it out http://www.esato.com/archive/t.php/t-144984,1.html scroll down to the start of the pics that have been posted
n95 facia is made of metal
Void the warranty like that for such a high price, the guy must be a little crazy🙄
I have my phone in my pocket most of the time, and metal or not, it is starting to go shiny in the corners where it rubs against the material of my pocket. So if it is metal, they have then sprayed it with a thin paint it seems.
Also, it is VERY easy to change the face plate. Slide the slider up, undo two screws, slide it all the way down, remove two screws. Turn back over, remove old faceplate, place new one, turn back over and redo screws. VERY easy! Its not a standard head, it requires a Torx no.6.
In the UK, this wouldn't void the warranty. If he damaged it during the faceplate change, he would void the warranty, if he didn't, it would be up to Nokia to prove that a fault arose as a direct result of his interference with the phone. Otherwise the warranty remains intact.
That was me!!
The N95 is one of the simplest phones to completely disassemble that I have come accross recently. The front cover comes off with 4 screws, and the complete slider assembly then is simple to remove.
The rear cover is also simple to remove. I've had the complete phone in bits, I have a habit of having to get inside news gadgets.
I completely stripped my Apple Macbook Pro, and a Sony UPMC UX1 as well.
All easy if you have the correct tools.
