by default the wifi in the N95 is set to use 100mW! 😮
fix this by going into tools / settings / connection / wireless lan / options / advanced settings ..
it'll give you a warning - ignore it.
go down to tx power change to 10mW .. ample for most situations!
enjoy longer battery life! 😊
oh also turn off auto-scanning for wlans. 😉
if you're really keen rip out all that non english search junk they put in installed apps by default too. :icon14:
wow just tried it on my n80 and it works so far
whats the differece between 100 an 10 (except 90  )

Yeah thats 90mW no longer frying your boys! 😮
Assuming you keep your phone in your trouser pocket!😊

The difference is in the amount of power that ur wlan adaptor uses to connect to a wifi network.

Thats a router..not a phone.=big difference.
One emits wireless signals and the other has to connect to them.

Also, routers, laptops etc have better aerials than the humble mobile phone. The N80 was rubbish at connecting. My N95 seems better, but it still takes more juice to connect from a phone.
Works nice on N80.
Got the same coverage as using 100mW, just less the power used.
Nice hack!
With router upstairs and trying with N95 downstairs I had a definite reduction in connection quality using this method. Whilst download speeds were comparable, the phone was forever dropping the connection. Guess this would lessen the closer you are to the router!

increase the power on your AP/router I would do that.
Floors are considerably thicker than walls and in some cases contain materials which will stuff up a wireless signal.
Good luck!😊
