Strange findings: White Screen Of Death

I've experienced that. Took off the battery, then boot up and then kapoof. Also, at times, this white screen, where you could see the previous letters fading gently to the last gasp, appears then, asks for your security code. As if it made a restart. Freaky. 😃

yup had that one edgedale described a couple of times. but normally i get the white screen and the phone restarts automatically. i think it does that to update the network cell or something. heard that before here but not really sure if im accurate! 8)

I regularly get WSOD's 😞 Usually occur after playing StackUp (I'm truly addicted to this sodding game! :evil: ) when I've hit the 100 line limit in endurance mode - the game craps out (email WildPalm about this bug to no avail! 😞 ) and then sometime afterwards or going straight back into the game - it freezes for a few second, then I guess some watchdog timer kicks in and reboots the phone, hence the screen fades and then eventually restarts....

Only once or twice I've had to physically remove the battery mind....

😞 I've been getting this problem almost continuously ... screen slowly fades and just disappears. Vey F'g annoying I can ttell U ... so much so that I have gone back to my 9210.

So far I have sent it back to N twice ... always comes back 'fixed' but problem just starts again only worse.

Not quite sure what to do next ... I spose I'll have to keep hastling them.

Never seen anything like this. Which SW version you have? Is there some way to reproduce this error? Is there backlight on? And phone does not reboot automatically (like in other messages)?

Strange... Mostly I don't experience WSODs... Well I had some when in v.03.12, don't think to had any with 03.16, I'll see with 04.39 now... 8)

Dont you guys notice that there is an X button? Well,only on your last post.
I experienced WSOD once,and it was on v.3.12 and it had nothing to do with wap.

Yes sometime is will restart automatically... but the one i experience was.. when using the WAP, upon click on a link, then the picture of serching bar shown... then .... hang. I exit my wap browser and switch to other appl (contactbook) to make a call, it's pop up a White Screen of Death and hang the whole phone. Pressing the OFF button did not work but to remove the battery.

I get the WSOD all the time... its driving me nutz. I will miss important phone calls, or not wake up when useing my phone as an alarm. I work at AT&T(now Cingular) and thought that i could find out a little more but I guess I am looking in the wrong places... if I find anything that helps I will let you guys know but don't stop looking because I havent had much luck.

Hi guys, I'm afraid that what you described isn't the White Screen of Death, WSOD ( empahsis on SOD) is when you turn the phone on, and it goes onto the Nokia sign, which after a while dissapears and blue bars go across the top of the screen, then the Nokia sign reappears, it repeats a few times and eventually just turns off.

Very annoying and I have no idea how to fix it. ARGH.

Take your phone to Nokia center.

It needs reflashing.
