On the N95 can one easily monitor the total length of calls as well as the number of txt messages sent over a monthly period?

Yes-so long as you remember to set it at the time you are billed every month. You might not even have to do that. Not really an issue with O2 mind-their online billing is excellent.
Could you please let me know how it is achieved. I can not find any way on the N95 to count the minites used or messages sent.

Not sure about the text messages (well you can just use PC Suite to download the messages and it will tell you then). For for calls it is simply contained within the Log program which is on the top left of the applications menu. Gives total, last , out and in call durations. HTH
