just what is the point of those media keys?

ok, I've had my N95 a while now and whilst I love it to bits, I really can't see a reason for those media keys, with functions that can already be performed with the joystick. Apart from looking trick, I suppose, and having a nice backlight (to drain the battery even more 😉 ) I never use them.

I use them when playing back videos i have filmed, but not MP3's very often. You are quite right, it's just a gimmick, but a pretty cool one.

i would say all the keys down the sides are useless (camera comes on when using the switch on the back, media mode comes on when using the slider and volume should be controlled using the joystick)

i use the play key as it will start playing all your songs, without u having 2 go in2 gallery or media player, open tracks, all songs, play. as this is a quicker 1 button alternate 2 lots of buttons,

I totally see your point though I disagree on the volume keys, what about adjusting the call volume while talking? You don't want to pull the phone away from your ear, change the volume, then put it back to your ear and see if you got the adjustment right!

I seem to have a problem with my media key since i have updated my firmware. when ever i press it the media menu starts up then just dissapears and shows the phones standby screen.

????!!??

The multimedia button is just pointless really! Waste of space! Especially when you can do the options elsewhere!

Don't know what Nokia were thinking

I find they have a lot of redundancy on their phones though. The USB 'application' which just lets you change the mode of an active usb connection? I have only had call to do that once or twice anyway and you can do it through Settings!

Those volume buttons are stupid. They should have been a thumb-wheel, that way you could use it to page up and down in menus and web pages. Had an old Sony (so old it was a Sony, not even a Sony-Ericsson) with a wheel in that exact position and it was a brilliant feature.
