Nokia Maps (smart2go) Navigation routing problems.

Hello,

I just wonder if there's any of you have paid for and use the voice navigation for the Nokia Maps?

What do u all think of the routing algorithm it uses?

Does it always take you to your destination in the fastest possible route?

Anyone experiencing the problems I have below?

Compared with my TOMTOM software i feel that the routing is very strange, it is not using the fastest nor the shortest route. I've tried changing the routing option to "FASTEST/SHORTEST" in the options but it does not make any difference at all.

EG. if the location i was going is directly north, it would not choose to use the big road which is straight, but instead it will choose small back roads (sometimes with ramps!) which takes me way off the location that i was going.

Further problem comes when I took a wrong turn and the system calculates a new route, which is totally messed up (slow meandering route).

I really can't wait for TOMTOM to release a patch for the N95's internal GPS, so that I don't need to put up with Nokia's routing algorithms.

A little birdie has told me that Nokia are not happy at all with the smart2go software and are considering options!

The 'little birdie' works for the company who create the city guides, I was making a complaint and he mentioned this in passing.

Well Nokia now own Smart2go, probably invested a lot of time an money, so i cant see how they are going to drop it any time soon.

Maybe they were jusy referring to major improvements in the software, its needed!! I haven't had too many problems but sometimes it wants to take me the long way around (luckily I was testing so knew the area) and other times it tries to take you the wrong way down one way roads!
