The first major firmware update to the production N95 is now online via Nokia Software Updater. v11.0.026 is a 113MB(!) download. Once you've upgraded, please comment with observed fixes and changes.

Read on in the full article.

Thank goodness nokia have released this update!!! Have just changed my product code via NSS and am updating as we speak. Goodbye horrible operator customisation! Hello VoiP 😊

I've just checked my V 10.0.018 N95. (Carphone Warehouse, unbranded)

NSU reports "no new software available"

Perhaps mine has no bugs 😊

Just updated by changing my product code to euro 1 from voda uk. All seemed fine until i backed up from memory card. Phone forced restart then got the dreaded "Startup failed. Contact the retailer" message.

Fortunately I restored the phone by using the method below:
Press and hold 3 keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad and then press the power on/off to switch on the Nokia N95.
Remember, do not let go the 3 press and hold keys until you see the formatting screen.
After a few minutes when the process is over, your Nokia N95 will be back to life.

I have no operator customisation and no other problems yet, apart from i can't backup my old data from the memory card. Also my main reason for updating as my handset wasn't allowing me to enter the unlock code that vodafone had sent me. It was saying "Not allowed" Vodafone had told me the only to reset the sim unlock facility was to flash the handset. Isn't that what I have just done? Anyway VoiP is here and not a vodafone logo in sight.

Any ideas as to why it still said " Not allowed" ????

Can you tell us the differences?
Maybe the battery lasts longer or what are the things that you noticed after the update.

Does anybody have a link to the Firmware changes from the standard one to this new one.
I can't find anything on google.

My N95 is on T-Mobile (UK). It's running v10.0.018 with product code 0546659.

Is the update just for Vodaphone?

Matt

the only way for it to recognize the update is to change your product code to one of the generic ones by using NSS. I changed from voda uk to euro 1 (plum) by using the code from a thread (stickied) in this forum

For what it's worth, my N95 is unbranded and SIM-free. The update was shown immediately by NSU but it took three tries to 'work'. The previous two I'd been doing other things on the PC - it seems that while it's flashing the device it's best not to rely on Windows' multi-tasking actually working! 8-)

No obvious changes that I can see though. Camera pictures are still over-enhanced, RAM doesn't seem dramatically better - come on Symbian-Freak, we NEED that changelog asap!

Steve

Cannot find the update. My product code is 0549001. How do I change the product code. Mine is a sim free generic phone bought in India.

Just unbranded my Orange N95 with no worries (changed product code with NSS). Did a full backup, some of my apps wouldn't restore (Opera Mini & Scenetone).

No fixes for many of my issues with the N95 (too long to post here) but:
a) the media menu doesn't take an eon to appear
b) seems less prone to locking up under spotty wifi reception
c) so far, haven't got the infamous "toggle 'loudspeaker' to activate internal mic on incoming call" bug, but only time will tell

Orange specific:
a) haven't tested the VOIP functionality yet but it seems to be present (can't wait)!
b) so happy the cursed Orange Photography app has gone

Worked for me:
Backup phone on memory card
Changed Voda code to Euro1
Updated Firmware
Changed Euro1 code to Voda
Restored phone from memory card
Changed Code back to Euro1

Didnt work for me.. where is the N95 in the nokia service updater site? anyone link me?

Just go to the Nokia support site. I am in Thailand and on the Nokia web site Asia Pacific link no upgrade shows up in the list. However, I chose N73, so I could get to the next page where the link to download the Nokia Software Updater program is. Then I connected my N95, and right away I got message that upgrade was available. I have an unlocked phone and free sim, and after having backed up and re-installed to the mem card, all is fine and works like before. Just did this a couple of hours ago, so I have not noticed specific enhancements (or bugs).

Forgot to mention that my version was V 10.0.018, and now it is V 11.0.026

Successfully flashed my Voda N95 to the new firmware. Now have no Voda branding on my phone and have full functionality restored. Was a bit hairy to do, was really scared it was going to go tits up, but glad it went okay!!

This isn't looking good. Was running V 10.0.018 previously with no issues whatsoever (apart from minor bugs/issues). Upgraded this evening (no third party applications installed), and I've had the phone lockup during normal operation, and restart itself twice for no apparent reason.

Does Nokia test their firmware properly before going public? Doesn't look like it.

I've tried updating through the Nokia updater program but it says firmware is not yet available. By the way I have the phone from o2 UK, the phone is unlocked but it has some o2 branding.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the firmware code on it? like from o2 branded to unbranded.. or possibly another language.

Thanks

Yes you can, I did my grey N95 on o2, just use the Plum Euro1 code 0536062

All updated fine after, now put my code back to my original one 😊

Absolute no problem since, browsing in the gallery is atleast twice as fast and no lock ups. Camera "feels" a bit faster aswell. Network (wifi) is a lot stabler aswell... sofar looking good. No other "weird" stuff happened at all.

would someone tell me how to change the codes in order to upgrade it? i know you have to use that "NSS" thing but, I DONT KNOW WHAT NSS MEAN. can someone tell me what it is? pls?

Hello,

Does anyone happen to know the firmware code for the region "Hong Kong"? The list provided here is only for european lanaguages.

Many thanks

I used 0534832 to update to Hongkong version, the languages supported are english, simplified chinese and traditional chinese.
Camera shutter sound is still there and you cannot use # to change to silent profile, those are the two major differences for the HK version.

I changed my Orange N95's product code to a generic EURO one and reflashed the phone, but I still have no Internet Telephony in my settings menu or tools folder. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hey, quick question. If i update my Nokia N95 will the SIM lock from my operator still be functional or will this be disabled?

Hi all....

To Clear up what seem like a lot of questions overhanging this N95 Firmware mystery.

1. I have a branded phone, one which was "played with" by the operator.
2. I am an IT Manager and could really use the VOIP functionality that has been taken away.
3. I fully support the "don't mess with my phone" opinion most people seem to have.

So taking into consideration the above i set about trying to get my phone "un played with".

Searched the net for n95 software updates etc. Came across two great sites. This one and another one which is bookmarked at home, i'll paste the link later on today.

What one would need to do to "upgrade" their firmware to the latest version V 11.0.026 is;

1. Obtain B-Phreaks software better known as (NSS) from their site...Google it (b-phreaks) - (i cant include the link as i'm unregistered)
2. Get the latest drivers for the USB cable from Nokia Site
3. Plug in phone via USB cable
4. Start the Nemesis flash software
5. Change your product code - i searched for one that worked on the net!
6. Update the code on the phone
7. Run the Nokia Software Updater better known as (NSU) application
8. Follow instructions on the nokia software - make sure you plug your phone to charge while attempting the NSU.

You will "INVALIDATE" your warranty by doing this and i would strongly suggest unless you are PC literate don't even bother attempting this as you'd end up messing at least one step up rendering your phone useless.

I changed The code to Euro 1 how do I go back to the former coder oncer my update is done?
