Hi folks,
I have recently bought an N70 which I love so far.
However on Tuesday evening I stopped getting SMS alerts, when an SMS arrives now I only know about it cos of the envelope icon, there is no "1 new message received" message.
also when the phone is locked or on standby there is now a little number 1 icon and a funny shape underneth the band where the time is..
I have checked all of the settings in the profile used and even changed profiles and it is all fine, it rings when a call comes in etc only with the sms
any ideas?
thanks
Rich.
Maybe you deleted the SMS alert tone. Choose another and try again.
Can you post a screenshot?
thanks for the quick reply!
I shall see if I can post a screen shot later this eve, at work now, but the tone is still there just played it...but it wouldnt be that anyway as its not even vibrating.
the little number 1 icon I mentioned has just turned to a 2!!!

Does the icon look like a bent arrow?
I switched off 3g and the number 1 that changed to a number 2 next to a funny icon dissapeared.
the phone re-started it self and I got a ton of delivery reports! weird.
but anyway, the problem with the sms is still the same, no audio alert, no vibrate and no message....it simply goes direct to the little envelope icon.
OK backup all your important data and format the phone. *#7370# dialed on the standby screen.

thanks man, that worked a treat :icon14: I am very grateful. 😊
is there a limit to the amount of times U can do that re-formating?

Nope. My N70 was formatted 17 times in a single day because of a corrupted backup. Lucky that it wasn't the only backup which I had.
i have fixed that without format. just moving back the messages storage from mmc to phone

why oh why do people use the *#7370# format method?better use the 3key method.it's the appropriate hard format way.press the green call key, * key and number 3 key while turning the phone on.

Because it's easier and faster. Each of us have favourite ways to solve problems, don't you think?

no, i don't think so.let's put it this way...if a malware like skulls is installed *#7370# WILL NOT clear it.on the other hand the 3 key format WILL.maybe you can explain further why the former method is better?there is nothing difficult about holding down 3 keys...as long as your fingers aren't deformed that is!

You have to be a little bit stupid to install malware, don't you think? All my apps are from AAS site and all of them are freeware/shareware. The issue discussed here did not need a hard format.

yes, you do have to be incredibly stupid to inform malware.it just so happens that there are many stupid people about unfortunately.i never buy my apps/games and always install cracked/keygen req variations and have never installed any problematic stuff..problem is though....many newbies no doubt have.regards.
