INFRA-RED CONNECTION README! FOR PEOPLE ABOUT TO PURCHASE IR
simply put: different strokes for different folks. i use IR, never had problems. and from where you are IR and BT prices may be the same, but not here in Manila. BT are way expensive compared to IR. 8)
same in Ireland where everything is more expensive than everywhere else anyhow, BT is a lot more expensive than full priced IrDa adapters
Most dealers ship to Ireland and international ... try www.novatech.co.uk or www.dabs.com
Oh I know -but the postage does add a lot to the cost. I get a lot of my stuff from the UK nevertheless. Have used Dabs alright but never heard of novatech - I'll have a look: thanks for the tip...
well my IR came built in with da laptop.
is this true?
Can you use the ir mouse adapter for connecting the phone to the pc?
Any mouse?
Anyone test this?
someone please delete the message below......it was an error while triyng to post...
so by this theory
I recently purchased a pinnacle tv tuner card
and the remote control interfaces with that via an IR device that attaches to my com port
Could I use that as a IR device to the phone.
*not having much luck so far.
You should be able to use virtually any ir accessory with your phone... Just try some diff or generic device drivers
I was wondering about that last point myself - in regard to something else - where would i find a generic driver for an IR device? I went to that main "drivers dot com" place but it was a bit of mess trying to find anything...
whats the actual name of that site
there is a large site containing loads of drivers, but its not drivers dot com. What is it?
I own too this pinnacle tuner pci card with this IRDA.
I really think it is only to receive IRDA from remote controls and not to send.......
I ve tried it .... and finaly did nothing but work the remote as a mouse, winamp remote, musicmatch jukebox remote, but never send IRDA.
Yeah the pinnacle remotes are whats known as Radio IR or something like that
eg my nokia 7650 if I want to connect it with another N7650 It needs to have a DLOS(direct Line of Site) youll note with the Pinnacle remotes you can aim it almost any which way but sunday and it will still be recieved via the Reciever, thus cannot be true IRDA as the nokia phone posseses.
but yeah a good lil remote none the less, can program it to control everything 😊
Sorry, OsirisMediaGuest
I was being lazy earlier... I meant
www.driverguide.com
but there's a load of faffing about - including having to register - before you can look for anything. Then you have to take 'four steps' or something, like you're trying to give up alcohol... choose your product type... then choose manufacturer... (hence it precludes finding a generic device explicitly)
PS if you want to see... the user name is "Driver" and the password "All" !!
Can you give me the name of a mouse, that i can look for, which works with the 7650, and don't cost too much, I don't care about the quality of the mouse, i just want the IR receiver.
Perhaps you also know a website were to purchase the mouse, that would be GRRREAT.
What mouse can do that and is cheap?
Plz tell me a name so i can find something that works, i allready bought a BT that i can't use.
