N95 GPS - Output

Hi,

Can you please tell me can you export/ output GPS Data to a laptop.

I spend allot of time around boats of various sizes. It strikes me as a good way to reduce the number of toys I can carry. If not can it work with waypoints, routes cross track error etc.

Presently I have a N80 and am looking to upgrade any advise? Is Micro SD Card the same as a Mini SD Card or Will I need to get another memory Card?

Presently I'm with Orange how well does an "Orange" N95 work?

Thanks in advance

Gerrit

GPS output = Not sure about this .. but I dont think so .. no yet !

Mem card = Micro SD is NOT the same as Mini SD .. so a new mem card will need to be purchased !

Orange N95 = I'm also on Orange .. Orange N95 is OK .. but much better after being flashed with generic firmware to unlock all the toys that Orange disabled ! 😃 Lots of posts here about how to flash firmware ...

I had a N80 before my N95 .. Well worth the upgrade ! 😃

I'm by no means a GPS expert, but using the free Sports Tracker application kindly provided by Nokia Research, you can export KML files of your routes (which contain the GPS data) from your N95 (or even an N80 if you have a external bluetooth GPS) and import in to Google Earth on your PC (or any other application that supports KML).

I had an N80 (before it got stolen) and agree that the N95 is a good upgrade. Faster, more stable, better camera, 3.5mm headphone jack do it for me.

Not particularly impressed by the N95's built in GPS. I also have an external bluetooth (holux 240) which I purchased for the N80, and in most circumstances (e.g. running, skiing, cycling, walking, recording track times when driving) it is much more convenient as you can hang it round your neck or from your clothing without having to hold the pesky mobile phone out in front of you. The other advantage is that when you do start the Maps application it already has a lock without having to wait 3 mins for the built in GPS to faff about.

Having said that it is kind of neat to have it available at all times. Although mostly when trying to find a place in London it's quicker to ask someone than wait for a lock.
