e61i ve e70

I want to get a non-windows smart phone with a qwerty keypad that can sync well with my Mac and I am leaning towards either the e70 or the e61i. As far as I can tell they seem very similar, but the e61i is a little more powerful and the e70 is a little smaller and has a better battery. Are there any functional differences between the two? Is there anything that one can do that the other can't? I've never had a Symbian smart phone before, but I used to have a Treo. I really liked how customizable it was and the wide range of apps available. Too bad Palm is run by a bunch of drooling idiots and their devices are now far behind where they should be. Is Symbian very customizable?

Is it possible to get a terminal app for Symbian that would run on one of these devices that would let me run remote commands into my Mac or other devices?

In my perfect world, something would come out really soon that has everything these devices have, plus a good camera and US 3G. In reality though I will probably have to get a phone that I know I will replace when something else comes around.

You can use puTTY:
http://s2putty.sourceforge.net/
However the lack of TAB and '|' on the keyboard of the E70 (and the E61* AFAIKT) makes using a un*x shell more problematic than it need be.

The E70 has a more standard keyboard layout (with separate number keys on the 1st row), but you have to unfold it use it whereas the E61*'s is available all the time.

Both phones are almost the same! But the battery of E61i is bigger that the one of E70.

I will strongly suggest e61i big screen, excellent keyboard, wifi and of course camera with a smooth dpad navigation you cant go wrong with it. My friend had a e70 he also switched over as he dound it cumbersome to open the device for typing.

you can use CTRL+I to use 'tab' in putty.. however i don't know the shortcut for | 😞 I would like to remap a key to be tab.

Thanks, I got to remember that.

Would be nice if one of the space keys could be mapped to TAB.

I thought the e70 had the better battery life.

How long of a wait do you think it would be for somehting like one of these devices, but with a good camera (I have no interest in the e90). I currently have a k790 and really like having a decent camera in my pocket all of the time.
