Hey w'sup guys, i would like to know how to de-brand (Remove Vodafone) from my N73 and update the firmware, i've got NSS Beta 1.0.38.10 installed but don't know how to use it, nd can't seem to find decent instructions anywhere.

Phone Details:
Nokia N73
V 3.0638.0.0.1
30-10-2006
RM-133
Nokia N73 (A7.01)
Product code: 0542457
Service Provider: Vodacom (Vodafone Software) - South Africa
Phone Language Options: English, Francais, Portugeus, Deutsch.

I tried to update the firmware but NSU shows that V 3.0638.0.0.1 is the latest.

I found the following product codes on Nokia N71 / N73 Product Codes thread, but not sure which one to change to:

This is the EMEA version of the regular N73:
0529604 South Africa
0529807 South Africa

0544056 South Africa (Middle East & Africa)

Any Ideas?

Were you successful?

I have the same phone (also in SA) with the same firmware and date you gave in your post. I was also planning to debrand mine with a generic product code and updating to new firmware 4.xx.

What features/software did you loose, other than the stupid Vodacom meerkat pictures?

My main motivation for updating to the generic version was because the new firmware was not yet available in the SA vodafone version, however, I checked yesterday and Vodacom/vodafone has finally caught up.

Let me know. Thanks
