get virus protect software... i know nokia are associated with some cos i got some on my n73...

theres quite a lot of virus protect software...

however! ive said virus PROTECT twice... im not sure how effective it is about when you actually GET a virus... so just get it and hope you dont get one 😉

Im asking that because after installing a F-Secure on my N93 I installed some freeware themes from a site I tough was trustable . After installing then I typed the code to see the serial number of my phone ( I need that to install the Adobe Premiere it came with my phone ) and the phone replied : "Not executed" . After reseting it I was able to see the number . So did I get an virus F-Secure didint detect?

Absolutely nothing. There's no such thing as a Symbian OS 9 virus. Don't believe the scare stories.

Malware exists though, i.e. deliberately malicious software, often disguised as 'free'/cracked commercial apps. So be careful where you download from. But with Symbian OS 9 there's no way such an app could do much actual damage and no easy way for it to spread itself (i.e. like a virus)

Read the story I out on other thread : 😮

Strangely after installing some freeware themes from a site I tough was legitimate I typed the codew to see the phone's serial number and the phone replied ; "Not executed ". Before installing souch themes I already had on the phone an updated F-Secure . I did a reset and now the code works and the phone warns me there is an untrustable aplication on my memory card . When I look at it through the files manager it shows me a sis file with weird name with only 1 kb. Virus?

The 1K stub is just for uninstalling it, I suspect. Do you suspect it as malware then? Is it doing strange things? And which was the site you downloaded it from?

Just read this and follow the guidelines:

Very useful little report there, I know when I first got my n73 it had F-Secure and I wanted to get the full version because i was so protective over that fone (it was quite a step up from a 7250 to a top notch n series nokia) but that just shot down any thoughts i had of gettin anti virus software... i stuck to those rules by common sense anyways (mostly)

a mate did tell me how symbian has so many sites with free downloads on which i used to sift through all the time lookin for freebies... but i will definitely cut that out, most the themes and games i got are rubbish anyways (stretched themes, weird colour settings on themes, games only usin a little of my huge screen etc)

thanks for that 😊

No it wasnt doing weird things ( but since I was afraid I formated everything ). All I got ( 5 freeware themes ) was from symbianf.freak with the exception of Divx Mobile , got from stage6. Now the 2 themes I use now are from forum.mobilethemes.and babinokia..Seems safe to me till now .
