How to tell if phone is branded

Hi all,

Been reading some of the threads on this forum today and would firstly like to say thanks to everybody who has posted.

i got a N95 yesterday on an Orange 'Pay Monthly' contract. The salesperson told me that i was lucky because the phone was unlocked and therefore didn't have the 'stuff' that Orange load onto the phone.

i have read the posts regarding the latest firmware but before I proceed I would firstly like to know how you can tell if your phone is branded? Is there a menu you can go to to see if its branded?

Any help is appreciated.

regards

Depends on how the operator branded it. It might have an operator-specific startup logo, or a right softkey label. It might also have an operator specific theme or wallpaper. And it might have non-standard, operator-specific apps, etc.

In other words, there are many ways and combinations how an operator could do the branding (different operators want different things, and I haven't seen what Orange does for the devices they buy).

thanks for your reply. There are no 'obvious' brand images/themes/wallpapers on the phone that Orange could have put on the phone.

However, I did successfully change the firmware to the latest version last night. Just followed the prompts and 'hey presto' was done.

Regards
