Hi,

Does anyone know how to set up the IM app which comes with the phone?

I need to set up AIM. Is that possible?

Hi

AFAIK, instant messaging is dependent on operator support (which is unlikely, because then you won't be spending money on texts).

Try Agile Messenger (www.agilemobile.com). It's not free, but my lifetime subscription has transferred between phones, so over two or three years it's good value. Works with AIM, Yahoo, MSN and others.
