RDS FM Radio via Firmware Update / 3rd Party Software possible?

Would it be possible via 3rd Party software or a firmware update to add RDS Data to the N95s FM radio?

Is it a software or hardware thing?

(RDS displays station name, and changes to a better frequency automatically if you are near one)

The FM radio receiver chip must have RDS support. If it doesn't, then a firmware/software update won't help.

I was being sarcastic. Visual Radio has had terrible uptake worldwide, in the UK Virgin radio (which is crap imho) is the ONLY station that supports it.

Right, Visual Radio lacks several functions of RDS, eg. automatically changing stations when travelling and traffic info. Still Nokia, stupidally insists. To be fair, Visual Radio has some advantages too. Those station lists are quite conveniant.

But nothing would stop Nokia from using both (VR and RDS) in an integrated system!
