Apologies for a couple of questions.
1) I keep getting a 'call not allowed' error on my new N95. Vodaphone are unsure of the reason and suggested I swapped sim cards with my work phone (also Vodaphone). The error still crops up. Anyone seen a similar problem?
2) I have 'euro1ed' the phone using NSS and updated the firmware in a failed attempt to get rid of the problem. Is is possible to re-brand it as Vodaphone in case it has to go back?
TIA for any help.

First thing I would try - especially after debranding - is formatting the internal memory to clear out any old Vodafone specific stuff. Type *#7370#
(Warning: You will lose all contacts, calendar, connection settings, etc. so use PS Suite to Synchronise before formating. Do NOT use the Backup utility either in PC Suite or in the memory card tool in the N95 itself).
If formatting the internal memory does not resolve your problems, you can use NSS to change the product code back to the Vodafone one - printed on the label behind the battery. This will probably not allow you to revert to the Vodafone Firmware with NSU but at least the product code will match the original settings, and the repair engineer may not notice your FW is generic.

Yup.. i've had the same issue... and this was BEFORE de-branding!
The problem seems to occur (not just on the N95.. but all 3G fones) when the 3G coverage and GMS coverage is marginal.
Your fone shows a 3G signal strength and by all intensive purposes the fone looks like it is on the network - attempt to make a call and after a while you get the 'call not allowed'. During this mysterious time in pergatory.. you cannot receive any calls.
The *only* way out of this situation is to manually configure the fone to ONLY use GSM.. you then re-attach to the network.
By all accounts (i've heard of Orange and O2 users suffering the same) this issue aflicts all the 3G networks...
Thanks for the replies.
I think the nub of the problem is gsm connectivity. Sitting here at work I can make calls when the N95 is set to 'dual' under network settings but it will not allow me to make calls if I switch to 'gsm' only. Perhaps when I have been 'not allowed' previously with the phone on a 'dual' setting, it has been in a poor 3G area and the phone could not connect under gsm...?
Never had this problem with 6300 series, N70 or E50. It is most annoying.
Vodafone have suggested I take it to one of their shops, which I will do tomorrow when I put the product code back to the original!
Just to put this thread to bed. The Vodafone service eng decided that my
N95 had been barred. He couldn't explain why it still worked on 3G but he logged a request to un-bar the phone and BINGO 18 hours later I can make GSM and 3G calls!
The explanation of why a phone sent direct to me from Vodafone apparently started life barred will be interesting.
