I know with the fact that the limited memory at the momment but just wondered what the sound quality his like interface etc. for the future when we get 1gig memory sticks!!

 Knowing Sony, I don't think they will ever produce a 1 gig stick. We will be very happy to see a 256 or 512 Mb stick. I play an entire MP3 album @ 24 kbps and it sounded very good. A 32kbps will give you a near cd quality. Pretty good player although the interface is so-so.

well as long as the sound is good that is coming out... the interface is not that sooo important to me!!

Isn't 24 & 32 KBPS a very low quality. On my computer, everything is in 128 or 192 KBPS. Am I missing something here??

Yup... 24-32 is very low... unless you only listen to your mp3s using the speaker on the phone, and not the included earphones.

128 kbps and over sounds just like any other mp3 player out on the market, minus any eq functions.

Try encoding variable rate mp3s to save space. For now, I'm just using my memstick for videos/trailers... just cuz it looks cooler to watch video. :P

I think the mp3-player sounds and works fine but one thing that I miss is the possibility to control the player with flip closed.

Does a big memory stick fit into the duo slot?

I do know that it's bigger, but as I understand it has the same contact footprint and a normal stick should fit in the slot, but just stick out on the side. It might just be that the Ericsson guys didn't make the actual slot big enough, but the actual holder inside the phone would take it...

would also be great to quickly send files from other memory sticks...else I will have to go duo w adapter for everything else....

The P800-manual says it's not possible to use msduos that are bigger than 128 MB, so you might as well stop dreaming...

Does anyone know of a decent over-the-ear stereo headset?

I'd like something like walkman headphones with a mike and button built into the lead.

Surely with all the stereo music phones around, there's a market for something better than those uncomfortable ear-buds?

Ideally SE should make a data port accessory that has a regular 3.5mm jack and a fly lead with remote control and mike. I'd buy it.

Along with the March release of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB Memory Stick PRO, Sony will also release the 64MB and 128MB versions of Memory Stick DUO, at least that's the words of some Sony people I know and that's their plan at the moment. To note that original MS, MS PRO and MS DUO use different specifications, likely they will not follow the same capacity line of development.
