Pool, not once, but twice!

Following on from the Virtual Pool Mobile news (below), I've been reviewing another new Pool release for selected S60 3rd Edition smartphones. In my review of MicroPool 2007 you'll see that it is a different beast, firmly in the 'pick up and play' category, but it impresses with good physics, an intuitive interface and good sound effects.

Nice review Steve, short and sweet. I have played Midnight Pool a lot on my N95 and will give this a go. I look forward to some games pushing the N93 and N95 as opposed to being the same version as other S60v3 phones.

I loved Micropool on my N-Gage, nice that they've used the extra resolution to give a more realistic table size (it was more like a children's table on 176 x 208).

There will be some 3D hardware accelerated games on the new N-Gage platform, which is likely to include the N93 and N95 as they're the only S60 phones with 3D chips at the moment. Nothing's been announced yet though...

Nice indeed, but I still prefer Midnight Pool 3D. Micropool has really good details on balls and the movement is smoother but... the table is very small, or the balls are too big.

It's nicely done but I find the physics a joke. This is like playing on a glass table rather than a pool one, and the degree of strenght in the cue is not ideal. Simple taps let the ball roll for ages yet full on shots only give a greater impression of initial speed rather than overall power and resultant energy of the object and target balls. Fun, possibly in the short term but I soon lost interest.
