Camera Close-up Problem N95

8 replies · 3,255 views · Started 24 May 2007

Hi everyone,

My N95 camera is really getting on my nerves. It works perfectly fine, however, wen i try to take close up pics it jus so blurry. The auto-focus can make the things clear for 1 sec then it jumps back to blurry focus again. Though I found a way to solve this problem, which is to move my N95 bak n forth in motion while im focusing and takin the picture (this only works once in every 8 times i try). Its reli annoying can some please help me out?
thanks!

On the menu that opens with the camera scroll down to "Scene Mode" big letter A, then select "Close Up" icon like a flower. Use this it should be fine, I've used it to photograph pages of books and scribbles from my notebook works fine and the pictures are very clear.

yeh of course i used that mode. for example, i tried taking the intel sticker that comes wid my laptop. i didnt completely fit the whole thing to the screen but about 80% of it.. but i cant reli get a clear shot.. 😞

If you hold the camera button down lightly it should focus onto the desired object and then you can take the picture. If it doesn't focus then you just have release and lightly hold again.

Hope this helps.

im guessing ur not extremely close, but heres a pic which i took which is close up and this was on the older fw.

if its still not focussing, ur better off taking it back where u bought it or a service centre and tell em its faulty.

Remember also that in macro/ close up mode, the lens also has a minimal distance / focal length that you cannot breach...otherwise it will be unable to focus properly. I think the minimal distance is something like 10cm off the top of my head.

If you need to zoom in more, you can always select highest resolution and after taking shot at 10cm distance, use software on a pc to zoom in and crop. This way, you can still get high quality resolution for close up shots...granted it wont be as good as a 5 Megapixel image using a dedicated macro lens but it will be in sharp focus and at least 2-3 megapixel by the time u zoom and crop on a pc.

Hello,

I'm guessing there must be some software issue on that focus thing.

I have the very same problem.

I used my old Nokia N90 to shoot close-up's and that was fantastic compared to this crap in N95.
That said, I'm used to shoot close-ups with phones, so the distance is not an issue, as also the mode.

It has to be something with software or even the lens mechanism. It focuses for a second but goes thru, can't lock onto right focus.

Hope Nokia will do something about it ... also on jpeg compressing whch is too heavy!!!

Mitja

Absolutely the same problem here, locked cristal clear image for one second ,but can not hold it and moving away.
Well, I really hope it's software issue, otherwise we are stucked with the "multimedia computer" which does not work properly.

I was runing away from Nokia n93 with absolutely ugly camera issues, but came almost to the same point with n95
