Auto time not working!

7 replies · 2,362 views · Started 28 May 2007

Hi. I woke up this morning and my phone was an hour behind. Don't know why, didn't change anything and it's not a special day today as far as i know.

Anyway so i went to the time settings and changed it to get time from teh network. but this doesn't work. I've tried turning the phone on and off, I've tried turning 3G on and off but no luck. How long does it take to change time?

My old sony ericsson did it as soon as you turn on the phone.

Phone i have now is N80 with n80ie firmware.

The network time is picked up just as soon as you turn on the phone, if the network supports the service.

With your old Sony Ericsson, were you using the same operator/SIM card?

can't remember but with the old phone i went abroad so the sim card was allowed access to all networks.

Sim card is vodafone contract - surely vodafone offers this service?

So, with the old phone it might have been another network?

I have no idea whether Vodafone's network supports the service (and it probably also depends on which country you are in, as Vodafone operates in many). Have you called their customer service and asked them?

I'm on Vodafone and this feature never worked on my N70, but does with my N80. I've just checked it having read this thread and it's still okay.

The words 'buggy' and 'erratic' come to mind.

had trouble with my one, i'm on orange in the uk and what you need to do on mine is turn packet data connection to 'when available' and get a 2G signal or turn 3G off like you have done. At that point you have to toggle the auto update time function to kick start it, and it works. it's a mission tho! good luck

woke up this morning - phone said it was 5:36 when it was 7:50.

auto-time was off and time zone was set to london where i live. I don' thtink the phone meant to change it becuase normally it would just do the hours.

Is there a battery keeping the clock going? phone wasn't on the charger so maybe the clock's battery is on its way out (but i've only had the phone since september.)

The only other way i can see it changing is I have Handy Clock installled, but can that change time when it's not running? and i dont' see why it should start now i've had it installed for a few months now.
