Totally agree. Particularly the amount of people that keep asking about TomTom working with the internal GPS.

It's very tiresome now, people clearly can't be assed to search before posting.

I requested this before, but it got ignored.

OK, I'm just heading out now, but I'll try and get onto this later today or tomorrow. I'm still think of ways to best deal with FAQs / common queries. I have a couple of ideas floating around my head, but suggestions welcome.

how about a mandatory feature for new members...

Before you are allowed to post, you must use use the search feature at least 30 times.

Not sure how you could implement it using the forums software, but would cut down the spam / duped threads.

Ideally, this kind of information would be posted in tutorials on the main AAS homepage, and then possibly linked to from the forum.
If you need help writing any guides, then I would be glad to contribute.

The problem with generic FAQ's is that some people assume, their question will not be on there. With stickys, the topic title atleast drops a hint to the contents.

There is already a FAQ section. Other way, the amount of participation is the rich part of a forum. If new people find barriers to post, they just go to another forum without that kind of restrictions. So, is acceptable the same question again and again.
