Who's using what browsers and why?

Just curious who's using what and why. Most of the time I like making due with included programs for solid performance and trouble free use.

I recently added unlimited internet packet service to my plan so now instead of the occasional WiFi surf I find myself using it a lot more often. As of right now it's mostly to check web based email and a few other things but I may use it more if the interface were a little more user friendly. I use FireFox on my PC's and laptops all pimped out with the add ons and what not. I doubt I would want something too resource intensive but something streamlined and useful would be nice.

So, what does everyone use and why? I've heard about Opera Mini and some of the others but don't know the first thing about them really. I have an E70 if that matters. I've done a search but didn't really see anything of compiled browser resources and maybe that's because the one on the phone is about the best available or not worth the time/effort of going to something else. Please post if that's the case as well.

My N70 came with a full registered version of Opera and I never used the inbuilt web browser since. Low traffic, pages are loading much faster, support for multiple windows... It's a pleasure to use it. Anyway, the web browser in E70 has the minimap mode, which would be nice also in Opera. Well... I can live without it.

Opera mini works fine on my E61. Pages load very fast due to the shrinked size of the pages. F.e. only 20kb for a page which is normally 125kb! 😊
But of course this doesn't work very well with all sites... 😞
One other downside is that it is java and so slow to load the first time.

Would you say Opera Mini is worth the effort or stick with the standard browser?

If you are using a hotspot or you have a flat rate data plan, use the inbuilt browser, otherwise I highly recommend Opera, either mini or full.

I use the builtin browser because I value privacy. Using something like opera mini means adding another entity which keeps tabs on my browsing habits. The builtin browser is pretty good but is severely hampered by the lack of free ram in the E70 (and most other S60v3 devices).

Hi Jeremyhelling,

I would say that Opere mini is defenitely worth the effort. Just give it a go. It is free! 😊

I have used both the installed browser and Opera Mini on my E70 (I use a mix of [free] WiFi hotspots and [subscribed] GPRS/EDGE), but I'm not crazy about Opera Mini (maybe I'm just not using it right - I can't really claim to have given it a fair try). I've been wondering about Opera Mobile, which has a 30-day free trial period and then co$ts. Anybody go to this length?
