Do you mean the flash or the red light for video?
If you mean the red light, the answer is No! that to let others know that you are filming them. the flash can esily be turned off.
Hope this helps.
Why is the red light required to let others know on this phone, but not on any other I have seen?
Is it something Nokia have done or something with the law?
Am not sure it just one of those things.
how do you turn the flash off?
and is there a way to keep it constantly on, as i dont hav a lamp in my bedroom, so i can use the flash light but only if it stayed constantly on???
😮 :con?
I'm pretty sure the red light is something to do with auto-focus when takin pictures..

The red light he's talking about turns on in when using camcorder mode. He's wants to see if there's a way to use camcorder mode without having that red light come on.
In photography mode, yes, the red light is used for measuring distance with the autofocus feature. In filming mode its just a indicator that the camera is active. The flash can be turned off by selecting the flash symbol on the camera screen and selecting 'off', although you need to do this each time you use the camera. The flash cant be kept 'permanently' on like a flashlight, and quite simply, to avoid dazzling yourself with the flash, slap a bit of gaffa tape, bluetack or chewing gum over the LED!!! Even try sticking ur thumb over it!
There really should be a way to turn it off. I was videoing an engine demo at a grand prix museum but, because it was behind glass, the red light reflected and was very noticable on the video. Its quite annoying
