Unlocking N95

I have a locked Orange Nokia N95. Before knowing about Orange's paid unlocking service, I tried another service. Then, I got Orange to send me the unlock code and instructions (it almost took them 4 weeks to do so).

The code from Orange does not work. I get the "Not Allowed" error message. I was trying with a Cingular (USA) SIM card.

I have sent the error message back to Orange and I am sure they will take another 4 or more weeks to respond.

I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of the "Not Allowed" message and try the unlock code again. Would doing the firmware/software update from Nokia do that?

I have been carrying the phone w/o using for almost 6 week...very frustrating.

If possible. please copy reply to ragr at yahoo.com

the "not allowd" means the code is corect its just that uv tried with the wrong code and now u cant unlock it via code input via keypad, however there is a way to hook it up to pc and use an app to input the code, goto forums.gsmhosting.com and goto the bb5 section, in there ul find all u need if u look, good luk pal im sure that site will help

You can only enter the unlock code when there is either no SIM CARD inserted or if an Orange one is inserted.

Also, what do you mean you tried using another unlock service? Did this involve entering another code which also did not work? How many times did you enter the invalid code?

I think you only get 5 attempts then then handset is locked to Orange forever and even Nokia cannot unlock it. If this is the case I am afraid you are stuffed.
