What would eat the phones battery up quickest?

Would the battery of the phone drain faster being connected to a bluetooth GPS or using the integrated GPS?

Integrated GPS would drain faster

Is there sound science or results of field tests involved here or is it just your guess/opinion?

The Bluetooth transceiver in the N95 has to both transmit and receive, but the internal GPS receiver only has to receive so GPS could potentially use less current than BT. Good quality External Bluetooth GPS receivers get up to 8 hours out of a fully charged battery, even though the bluetooth and GPS receivers are both active at the same time. This suggests to me that both circuits use extremely low current.

Taking the above into account, I would imagine the N95's internal GPS receiver uses the same or less current than the Bluetooth circuit.

In any event I think the fact that the N95 CPU, Screen and backlight are all constantly in use whilst TomTom is running, I think Tomtom will empty the battery long before the bluetooth or GPS curcuits have any major effect.

In my own N95 tests (using an external Bluetooth receiver), I have noted around 30% battery power drain with a 90 minute journey using TomTom. From this I would estimate at least 4 hours battery life using TomTom on a long journey, regardless of using the internal GPS receiver or an external Bluetooth one.
P.S. I had my bluetooth headset in use during the journey, so the N95 speaker was not active.

😮 My N95 completly drained after 3.5 hours using Maps with turn by turn active! There were approx 3 reroutes due stopping in services/poor directional understanding. You definatly need a car charger in use for any trip using the internal GPS or you will not be able to use the phone much afterwards.
