Okay i udpated my firmware to the new version, but now when i slide the keypad away it dont ask me if i want to lock my keypad.. does anyone know how to enable this again.. as i dont want to be ringing people up in my pocket :frown:

Can u use the power key to lock the keypad? or try download the auto keylock software :con?
no there isnt an option in there for locking the keypad i can lock the phone..
this used to work before, why has it stopped now? when i close the slider it doesnt do anything..??..
i have had the case changed but wouldnt have thought that would have mattered to be honest?, i had the case changed the same day i updated the firmware as i bought a usb lead.
use handy keylock. i also replied in HoFo.
is the back light works when open the slider ? if it is not working it is a hardware issue if it works try to reinstall the FW

Firmware and case change the same day - your problem is the case.
I have the same firmware as you and there's no problem with the locking. But, I've had issues before with locking the keypad and it was down the the case.
There's a connector in there, and if it's not, erm, connecting properly then the phone doesn't know the slider is moving - and this is what happens.
Okay, when i open the slide nothing lights up.. think you might be right about the case.. as that also used to do light up..
will check to see.. is taking the case off an easy thing to do as i had this fitted for me by a local phone shop..
if i can fix it myself that would save me a trip? is there some how to guide on doing this??

I can be done if you have the correct tools, but if a phone shop did it then they should put it right.
The front cover is dead easy to change but your problem is with the slider section and that's a little more tricky. There's a video knocking about online somewhere showing how to disassemble the phone, try YouTube.
When this happened with mine it was because I was not using a genuine Nokia part. The one I was using looked absolutely identical but just wouldn't work.
The reason your keylock isn't working is due a missing magnet. When I first changed my case I had the same problem, but I found there was a small magnet stuck into the back piece of the front slider sections casing, I removed this, placed it in my replacement case and it now works fine.

Can anyone provide more detail picture of this "magnet".. First I tought it was due to little golden contactors sliding on slider, but I've done every thing to force them to make good connection, so that's why I was frustrated a bit because I've dissassembled it few times and spent over hour with that problem,, but no luck..
I still have old housing (it was silver one), and I'm thinking to turn back in only slider metal part, if there's no easier way, e.g. with this magnet..
could this magnet be this one?
