...and it is really sad: I am going through this painstakingly slow interface and can configure and find everything but the darn sound options! Could some kind soul on here please direct me to how I can turn off the annoying keypad tones, etc.?

*shame* Apparently there are different options for "offline mode" -- as soon as I put my active SIM in and went to the Tools (on my phone it's "Settings"😉 Profile menu there it was. So easy, so sad.
The same Profiles app can be used to change Offline profile/mode settings. First thing I always do is to turn off the keypad tone in all profiles (even if I tend to use only 3: General, Silent and Offline).
