Sluggish N95

Hi everybody and thank you for letting join this great forum

This is my first post so please excuse me if I ask a question that has already been asked. (i did have a look but couldn't find the answer)

I have an N95 and my wife has just got the E65 which looks, feels and operates far better than my N95. My N95 is very sluggish ie it takes 3-4 seconds to open contacts where as the E65 is instant. Its the same with most of the programes.

Dont get me wrong the N95 is a great phone and has a lot to offer but the wifes E65 doesn't seem to have that much less to offer but is far far faster, far slimmer and built far better. I know it has a 5 mp camera and GPS built in (although you could have driven to the place and back and got lost three times on the way in the time it takes for the GPS to locked on)

Do you think my phone has something wrong with it or is this the norm for this phone? I have a non branded version with the latest FW

Any help would be greatly received

Thank you in advance

PhilB

I have about 300 contacts in my N95 and on first opening of the Contacts app after turning the phone on it takes around three seconds to show the contacts list. If I close the Contacts app and then open it again it is instantaneous. It just seems to be the first opening that is slow.

I have 243 contacts and it takes 3-4 secs every time. what about other programes are they slow on you too

Hi Philb, have you closed all the applications that maybe running in the background? To check, press and hold down the menu key. The only things that should be running is standby. If contacts or music player is displayed press the 'C' button to close it. It may speed up your phone bro.

Hope this helps.

I know it's not helping much. But no slowness issues noticed here either.

It can be slow if you have other active applications open, like a virus scanner etc. (Or even a real virus - which is rare).

But I guess you will have to just work out what you might have running in the background.

Things like contacts and programs that are used regularly i leave open. Means you dont have to wait a few secs when you want to phone someone. I dont think leaving a few minor apps open effects the battery.
