Outlook Synchronisation failure

2 replies · 3,329 views · Started 11 June 2007

Folks,

I attached my 7710 (latest firmware I believe) to an XPsp2 machine with a pristine Outlook2003 installation (ie. no contacts).

My phone has several hundred.

I set it up using the synchronisation wizard - Synch contacts to Outlook only.

2 Errors:

1:

The Synchronisation has been Terminated!
PC Sync could not update the data to the mobile phone.

2:

PC Sync information.
PC Sync has encountered a problem and has terminated the synchronisation.

USELESS messages.

What might be the cause? The connection is via cable, and a complete backup of the phone to the PC works correctly, so the connection is fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since this version is way newer than the phone, it should be sufficient.

Actually, the reason I want to do this is because I want to update all my contacts with full information, and it would be easier on the PC.

However using the Nokia inbuilt application breaks everything if you update/add data. Names get concatenated, data moved to the wrong tags etc. etc. The Nokia software is terminally braindead, so I was hoping that via Outlook it might actually perform this basic functionality.
