I had an N80IE before this, and I have to say I loved that, but this phone delivers some SERIOUS amount of ownage. By far the best phone I have owned!

If the next FW upgrade fixes the current Wi-Fi connection problems (unable to find routers, intermittent disconnection, etc.) then the N95 will be (nearly) Perfect.
Already it's by far the best phone I ever owned. :icon14:
it has its faults some of which will be fixed with future firmware upgrades im sure but i still think this phone is brilliant and im very happy with it :icon14:
id give it 9/10, for it to get 10/10 nokia need to sort the RAM out, thay cud have easily made the n95 have around 30mb free RAM on bootup, or even 25mb wud be nice, the low ram is the only thing that realy lets it down, but i love my n95, i also had a n80ie and loved that, the n95 is what the n80 shud have been..... and then some. great fone
I'd give it an 8/10.
It loses a couple of points here for being partially crippled with respect to UPnP, the fact that upgrading Quick Office loses .txt capability and having to faff around in the browser when using email via Outlook web access.
Having said that I have stopped carrying round quite few devices since I got the N95 and even risked a day without the laptop today. Good phone and no plans to change it anytime soon.
During the 10 days i've had it so far i've found*:
RAM - It's got nowhere near enough. People will cite power usage for being the reason though I suspect the truth is more like Nokia doing it on purpose to make the next in line look better when it's got 30+mb, trickling through the technology.
GPS - it's just a pain having to have it open to use GPS properly. Otherwise it's ok for a compomise unit, you can't expect the same capabilities as a stand alone GPS unit. It's a great novelty though and a nice intro into the world of sat nav.
Battery - Phones have come a long way, batteries clearly haven't. Life depends heavily on usage though. Until today when I got my new PC (and hence have barely touched the N95) it had been running out within 12 hours, so far today it's still got a full bar nearly 24 hours later. More than acceptable standby time, nobody really needs a phone to last more than 48 hours these days.
Software - The occasional reset (4 so far), no worse than most other symbian handsets. Annoying that it then takes ages to reboot considering it's very quick to start on power on. I have also had issues with the in built browser closing on one site in particular. I believe the RAM (or lack of) to be the reason for this.
I've also had to turn it off every couple of days otherwise the RAM seems to be soaked up by nothing and video clips play back jerky, sometimes they won't even open without the irritating "out of memory" message. That message is third only to "phone startup failed: contact retailer" and "boot disk failed" on some PC's in annoyance potential.
Build quality: As many are experiencing, wobbley slider and increasing gap at the bottom of the phone. I have found closing the phone instead of leaving it open decreases the gap after a few seconds. With the phone closed though it's annoying to feel the slider move suddenly down or for it to be slightly pushed in each time you press a button of direction on the slider part of the phone. I'm reluctant to sort this out myself due to waranty but it's a poor show from a company who until recently made phones of the absolute highest build quality. There is also the issue of the scratch above the 3 key where it appears the ribbon rubs on the plastic.
They are otherwise well made though and easily one of the best looking phones ever in my opionion.
Camera: More than up to the job, 5mp is a waste though, 3mp looks just as good, some might argue it looks better due to the way the phone renders the 5mp image. It seems to have simply stretched the pixels that are there rather than given us more actual pixels. Xenon flash would have been good too though I guess this would badly effect the size of the phone and more so, the power consumption. The gallery is absolute s***e though, sorry to be rude but it is. If you've just taken 200 photos (which I do a lot) and you want to find, say, the 100th you took, you then have to cycle through each one in order until it eventually arrives at the one you want. The trouble there is you have to keep waiting for the thumbnails to update unless you know the filename already. Even making new folders for them makes no difference, they all appear in one veeeeeerrrrrrrry loooooooonnnnnnnggggggg liiiiinnnnne. It was rubbish on the N70 and they haven't changed it at all. As for the video part, you need to stay very still when filming, otherwise quality goes out the window. Right out the window.
Music - no issues there at all so far. Does what it should and what you would expect it to. Could argue that the speakers aren't fantastic, but they never will be at that size. As far as i'm aware no speaker in the world that size can recreate bass or real volume properly.
Overall - bloody good phone but so annoyingly let down by a lack of testing and poor build quality. If I can pick these problems up within a week, surely the testers can too, so either they're not doing their job properly or Nokia have given up caring about the consumer entirely. I think I may have been one of the lucky few though as i've had a relatively trouble free time with my N95 so far. I still love Symbian, but my patience is wearing thin.
*I decided to stick to the down sides as everyone's already heard about the pro's a million times before.
Your replies are much appreciated, i have become more educated now regarding the n95.
i think they make these mistakes on purpose so they can build another phone that people will look forward to, and they'l do this forever
RAM: Nokia got this WRONG!!!
MEMORY: I use Handy Taskman to "kill" apps and this clears our the RAM and I haven't had an out of mem message for weeks.
SOFTWARE: I can't remember the last crash. After upgrade of the FW and debrand of phone I did a hard reset and clean reinstall of all apps. Input all settings fresh and only "synced" contacts. All done without mem card in place.😊
