using pop 3 email

I recently entered all my data for email via wifi connection and pop3 settings. I can download email, but cannot send ( via the same wifi ). I rechecked the settings with the provider and seems that all is well, but... cannnot send. Any ideas??:redface:

Have you checked the smtp requirements as well. Most likely you have/haven't a requirement for secure smtp, in which case check the appropriate box and password settings here as well.

I did review the settings on the outgoing SMTG . Checked the password, and email address etc. I can get email via pop3 but I cannot send. It times out.

Another issue that is less than great that I've noticed. Seems that when I am attempting to send email via the message pop3 service when I finally have enough of it and hit the dicsonnect command it just sits there saying " disconnecting".. and never does. Then I need to turn off the phone, and back on again. Suppose this is one of the freeze ups others have commented on in the past... Not impressive in the least.:icon13:

Just a thought, are you on O2? IIRC when I had an O2 account I had to use their smtp server and not my mail provider's smtp settings. Weird I know but that had me fooled for a very long time. If you are, I've the details stashed away somewhere.

That right, forgot about that.

Sounds like an SMTP problem and one I have also had.

My POP mail account is with Virgin so when I pick up mail via the phone, without using home WiFi both POP and SMTP are set to Virgin. However, if I use mail via my home WiFi these settings don't work and I have to change the SMTP server to wanadoo who are my broadband provider, the incoming POP server remains Virgin.
