N95 playing a radio station via its web site

Hi All

My first post to this forum

I am trying to listen to a radio station (wmmo in Florida) on my N95

But the player seems to be java based and the N95 does not seem to like it.

As I have not done any posts yet I cannot put web addresses in but would ask you to Google for wmmo and it should be the station that comes up.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated in how i can play this station.

Many thanks

Simon

hey and welcome 😊

i think the chances of this working are pretty slim. the web browser on the N95 is very much cut down in comparison to a standard browser. Only basic java / flash will work so streaming media is very unlikely.

If you want net radio then there is a streaming app for the N95 which lets you play .pls files (eg, winamp.com and shoutcast.com stations). There are a few things to get it working as it's only a project app but works fine for me. Either google for it or have a search on the forums as i've posted here about it before

http://opensource.nokia.com/projects/s60internetradio/index.html Still very much in the development stage, or a technology demonstrator. Some streams work fine but I've hit a brick wall with others.

I've had a look at the wmmo site and I think your chances of getting it to play are pretty remote. AFAIK there are only two ways to get streaming broadcast radio: the shoutcast method using a .pls playlist, and with an rtsp (realplayer) stream, which you can do using "streaming links" in Gallery.

You'll need to dig around the internet for content, though; Nokia don't give you much of a head start in that regard.

If the website uses RealPlayer (RP), try this : -

- Copy the RP URL to your phone's clipboard
- Open RP on your N95
- In 'options', select 'download videos'
- Enter the (above) URL in the address box
- You may get some sort of mild warning, so click 'OK'
- Bingo ! - you're listening to the site player
