I use my P800 a lot. Switch through multiple applications. I open up, let say, messages, read some, write some, then back to main menu, contacts, back again, see pictures, back, play video, back, play audio, back, browsers etc. But, after each apps, I feel the phone getting slower and slower.
Then I checked with qfileman. Looking at the task list, seems that the OS didn't release the apps that I left. Everything still open. After I close them manually with qfileman, my phone become fast again.
I know it's nice to have the apps still open in the background e.g. you can play audio while you writing in jotter, but aren't there any ways to make the OS work more eficient rather than left all apps open in the background? (let say, only let 3 last apps open)....Or maybe it be would easier for all apps provide EXIT in the menu like eMAME.....Or is it just the way that Symbian work?

That's how P800 works... It's not how Symbian works... E.g. in 7650 when you exit an application it really exits - with P800 you switch between apps and when resources get low they are closed (don't know if they are closed after some idle period).
So we can expect 9210 type task managers for P800? Or some Handy Eat All My Memory application 😉

Sorry, that's how Symbian OS 7 UIQ works...

I guess you only get this problem if you really abuse your p800. Normal use shouldn't affect the speed at all..

So..maybe SE should announce "PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE YOUR P800 TO MAINTAIN ITS PERFORMANCE" 😃
Anyway, i don't think I abuse it, the apps are there, available to use.
Could you tell me things that can be categorized as abuse, and how 'normal use' like? coz' even though you wait for 30 minutes before you switch apps, you still experienced this slow issue. The problem is not the way you use it, but the apps were left opened.
........it would be nice to have a program that can refresh the memory/RAM automatically e.g. every 15 minutes..
