Is there anything I should be aware of?
Can I just get my phone unlocked and put a US sim card in?
Where can I find out what service providers are available in the area?
Are WiFi hotspot free?
Etc..
Emigrating UK to TX, US. Questions
FYI...there were two versions of the 9300...one for the US and one for the rest of the world. They differ in the bottom frequency band of the GSM.
You may find that you lose some connectivity bringing it here.
I have a 9300(US) and use Cingular as my carrier in Houston, Texas.
You might be able to get more details by contacting the Moderators on the Cingular Nokia user forum. I would post the URL here, but board rules don't allow including URLs until I have made 10 posts.

Thanks for the information. I used my 9300 OK last Christmas in San Antonio with Cingular/AT&T, so I really just need to get it unlocked.
Do Cingular offer SIM only tariffs so that I don't have to get a new phone?
Is text messaging popular in the US? (I notice text bundles ahve to be bought as an optional extra)
I may buy a bundle to text home.
Also what is the deal with Wireless hot spots for use with my 9500? Are there open ones about or do I need to subscribe to a service that charges for the usage of them?
