Just been on their web site and they have now dropped "beta" from the web pages, hopefully they will have some updates fairly soon to rid the software of the bugs

Heres hoping

There is a new version!
Simply select 'Download via PC' and select N95, you get an update-Packet.
There is also a new version of MapLoader 😊

New Version looks better, seems to route faster and has changes in the way of using. Like it from the first impression 😊

Regards,
PM

Just downloaded it also

First impressions very good, tried a few routes that were wrong before and they now are much better

Will test over the weekend

Would suggest to all to try!

Fingers crossed

Jepp, seems better alright.

Since this thread heading can be somewhat confusing/misleading I've stated a new thread where we can post comments about the new (improved) version. Sorry about that...

Placed a "poll" for a verdict there as well... 😊

Thread here: New version of Nokia Maps is out

HEllo out there!
I've succesfully replaced/installed older version of maps on my N95. I liked the new interface and concept as well.
Though i must admit that GPS lock takes longer than the older version did.I must notice that i live in Greece. Is this somekind of area delay let's say?
In advance, since a newbie, i realised that using the new maps software coupled with wireless connection at the same time you can actually download any map of the place that you navigate to in contrary to MapLoader that you had to install them using usb cable.
Thanking you for your time!

Seriously, I can't find the new Maps software. When I look in the drop down list, the N95 isn't listed.

I wonder if this has something to do with my location? I live in the UK.

Can someone please provide a direct link to this software for the N95?

Hopefully it will help get a faster GPS lock than has been possible in the past.

You're right. The "N95 option" is gone!! It where there earlier for sure (I now since I downloaded it..).

Btw, I've started a new thread for comments and a poll for the verdict of the new version here (..if it ever becomes available for download again that is..):
"New version of Nokia Maps is out".

Ps. Place me a private msg with you're e-mail and I'll send it to you.

Well it might be better if you used a file hosting service (please for the love of god not Rapid Share though) so that all of those who can't get it can get it too.

Don't want to be selfish or anything.

I have tried with a version for N73 and get the update error.

Here is what smart2go says about it:
When trying to install smart2go, I get an error message saying Update Error. What should I do?
Note that if you already have the smart2go application preinstalled on your mobile device (like it is, for example, on the Nokia N95 mobile device), it is not necessary to download and install the entire application again. However, you may run an update of the software on your mobile device. Please have a look if an update for the pre-installed smart2go version on your mobile device is available.

The map aplication was pre-installed on my unit. Does this mean that I can't update it through smart2go.com??

Sure thing 😊 Know any good one (without any sign up fee or other sh*t)?

You must download the version for N95! This download option has for some reason been removed. I've placed a link for an alternative download site for the N95 update version in this thread:

Maybe you've messed up the current installation when you tried to "upgrade" using the "N73" SIS files and therefore have to perform a hard reset in order to get it back to it's original state?
You should be able to update it by using the files available on smart2go.com (as long as you're using the "N95" files).

So, is it just me, or is there something I'm missing? Because as far as I can see the simple 'tracking' feature has been removed from this version.

There does seem to be navagation functionality, but no option to select 'tracking.'

There are certain instances when you are on the road (or perhaps traveling abroad on a train or whatever) when the ability to simply track one's position can be very useful.

Maybe I am just missing something - but if it has been removed, it seems like a very big step backwards.
