Getting DVD's onto N95

18 replies · 13,533 views · Started 17 June 2007

Hi all,
Has anyone tried to put DVD videos onto their N95? I would like to put some of my kids short programs onto my phone via DVD so she can watch them when shes causing trouble!

I have looked around & can only find trials. Before I buy one can anyone recommend programs to convert them & to play them on the phone that they have used.

Thanks in advance.

I use the DivX player (mobile.divx.com, free but you'll have to register). Works well in combination with a PC ripper and PocketDivXEncoder (Google it).

Total cost: nil 😊

I use Media Studio for Nokia. Rips a full DVD to approx 150MB and is dead simple to use. It's not free, but then, nothing good ever is.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried ripping the DVD using DVD Decrypter then loading the files into Super, But when I try to Encode files I get Errors on every file, Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. The files are, .BUP .IFO & .VOB after I have ripped them.

Thanks in advance

You only want the vob files.

Ok, So I went there and signed up. What program do I need to down load? Options for me were: Windows smartphone. Symbian series 60, and symbian series 60, 3rd ed. ( so what is the N95? 3rd edition?) is this the down load I would need??

Thanks......:icon14:

After lots of surfing and down loading trail versions i finally came across an awesome program. It's called clonedvdmobile by slysoft. It will copy straight from dvd to any device, i copy to MP4 as i have a n95. It's fast, a whole movie in 45 minutes. Picture quality is excellent and sound. It also gives you the option of zoom so you can full screen it. One thing i have found is it will compress the file and then if you wish you can compress it some more to save memory, but i've found the sync is marginly out so i leave well alone.
Download there free full trail version for 21 days. to buy is around 15 pounds.

it's such a beautifully designed program, so easy to use you'll love it

let me know your thoughts
google search slysoft, click on clone dvd mobile and download for free, well for 21 days at least

hope this helps

I use DVDFabPlatinum. It rips straight to many different devices and it supports subtitles. Quick too.

Both free but both awesome!

I used these last night to rip a copy of "The Matrix" to my phone.....i only selected the VOB file which was the main movie, changed the settings in Super so that it would fit my screen resolution and encoded the file.

When i look at the final product though - its still like 1gb in size!

Surely there is a better way to shrink the file down otherwise my 4gb memory card will be full pretty soon indeed! LOL! 😮

There really isn't any way to compress the file more than by only encoding the main movie file.

To keep room available on your card, put a movie on it only when you want to watch it. I keep them all on my comp and when I want to watch one, say at work or on the road, I transfer it to my phone and then delete it from my phone when I'm done watching it.

That's the most logical way of doing it I would think, I mean who carries around all their dvd's with them at all times? haha.

Mind you, once the N97 comes around you'll be able to keep a fair few movies on your phone "just in case"...

is it mid-June yet? *sigh*
