GPS + Camera quick questions...

Just two quick questions I hope people can help with.

I've just replaced my CPWO2 N95 which had the following probs:

High Whining sound from earpiece. (Main reason for replacement)
Bottom right of phone is "rockable".
Right selection button was VERY clicky.
GPS was stable and Camera seemed excellent.

Got a replacement one at a CPW in Oxford Street.

Found the following "problems" which I hope others can share views on whether I should try my luck again.

1. High Whining sound is much less reduced, but still there (but requires a bit of concentration to hear). A cause for another replacement (this is first replacement)?

2. Camera can't seem to focus on anything closer than 20cm in Auto mode normally, and if it's a book, even in good light conditions, need around 50cm, but can focus on anything as close as 6-8cm in Close Up mode if sufficient light is available. Is this normal? I have a suspision that the Auto mode should be able to focus in as close as 15cm at least (well, that seemed like that with the previous one that's now been exchanged back).

3. GPS. It's jumpy, REALLY jumpy sometimes. Previous one was very stable even on slightly rainy day. But todays weather is very rainy and cloudy, dunno if that'll affect the GPS heavily like this.

4. Slider is no longer "rockable" on the bottom right, but the middle right, so only the normal set slider position doesn't rock. But the other two (open and media) do rock around that position.

Phone came preinstalled with latest firmware.

Anyone able to answer if the camera and GPS are supposed to be like that? If not, gonna go in and try the N95 lottery again. Which is annoying, since the original N95 I bought (without contract) had no problems with any of these things... *sigh*...

Thanks for the help.

In terms of the camera, I find auto pretty useless for anything less than about 20cm tbh but thats what macro mode is for!

OK, thanks. It looks like only the GPS might be a spot of bother with it's sudden jumping. Will see if it'll remain stable now with the Sun out. If it's fine, I think the phone will do. Thanks for your info about the camera. 😊

*sigh* If only the first phone was allowed to be kept...
